Hazrat Muhammad s.a., also known as the Prophet Muhammad, is considered the last prophet and founder of Islam. He is revered by Muslims worldwide as a model of righteousness and a source of guidance.
Muhammad was born in the city of Mecca, in present-day Saudi Arabia, in the year 570. At the time, Mecca was a center of trade and commerce, but also a place where many different religions and belief systems coexisted.
Muhammad's father, Abdullah, died before he was born, and his mother, Amina, passed away when he was just six years old. As an orphan, Muhammad was raised by his grandfather, Abdul-Muttalib, and later by his uncle, Abu Talib.
Despite his humble beginnings, Muhammad was known for his honesty, integrity, and kindness from a young age. He became a successful businessman and was eventually hired as a manager by a wealthy widow named Khadijah. The two eventually married and had six children together.
Muhammad's life changed dramatically at the age of 40, when he received his first revelation from God through the angel Gabriel. These revelations, which continued for the rest of his life, were later recorded and became the basis of the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam.
Muhammad began preaching the message of Islam, which teaches that there is only one God and that all people are equal in the eyes of God. This message was met with resistance from the ruling authorities in Mecca, who were threatened by the idea of monotheism and the erosion of their own power.
As a result, Muhammad and his followers faced persecution and were eventually forced to flee Mecca for the city of Medina in 622. This event, known as the Hijri, marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.
In Medina, Muhammad established the first Muslim community and set about establishing laws and a system of governance based on the principles of Islam. He also preached the message of Islam to the people of Medina and beyond, and many converted to the religion.
Muhammad's leadership and the spread of Islam brought him into conflict with the rulers of Mecca, and he eventually led a number of military campaigns against them. After a series of battles, Mecca surrendered to Muhammad's forces in 630, and he entered the city in triumph.
Muhammad spent the remainder of his life spreading the message of Islam, establishing a system of governance based on the principles of the religion, and working to bring about peace and unity among the people of Arabia. He died at the age of 63 in the year 632.
