HOW WE EAT MORE FOOD WHEN SOMEONE IS WITH US?

Elders often say that food should always be eaten by sharing it with everyone. Solitary food is not seen with good eyes.

The elders say that eating together brings blessings. But modern research suggests that we eat more food sitting in a group. We also savor those dishes that we might never eat alone.

By the way, the practice of eating together has been there since time immemorial.

Even when a person used to hunt and feed, he used to eat in a herd. Research also proves that by eating food alone, a person becomes a victim of depression and stress. It is said that the eating habits of those who sit together also affect us.

Health psychiatrist John de Castro researched about 500 people in the year 1994. This research sample included both those who ate alone and those who ate with people. It was found that the diners in the group ate more food.

Another research shows that 40 percent of the people who eat in the group eat more ice cream. 10 percent of people ate more macaroni. At the same time, those who eat food sitting alone do not even touch these things many times.

WHAT IS THE REASON?

Why do we overeat when we eat with someone else? According to Castro, when many people eat together, the chatter round goes on with the food. Due to this, our hand stops many times while eating. This increases the time of eating.

People eating in large groups spend more time, due to which the message of filling stomach does not reach the mind. Whereas people who eat in small groups or eat alone finish their food quickly. In this way, they are saved from overeating.

Another similar experiment was done in the year 2006. About 132 people were given a fixed time to eat. All the participants were divided into groups of two or four, while some were left alone. But the results of the research proved that due to the time limit, everyone ate almost the same amount of food.

This proves that when we spend more time eating, then we eat more.

Often when many people gather during the ceremony, they eat something or the other while roaming with everyone. We eat more than our hunger in this little food, and we do not even realize it.

WHY ARE MIRRORS INSTALLED IN RESTAURANTS?

Some experts say that only social groups do not force us to eat more. Rather, many times, people sitting alone eat more. Many people eat too much, even sitting with strangers.

For example, in research done in Japan, some people were asked to eat pop-corns while sitting in front of a mirror and some in front of a wall. Pop-corn eaters in front of the mirror ate their food with more pleasure. Maybe that's why most restaurants put mirrors all around so that the customer eats more and orders more food.

It is not that the results of every research are 100% correct. Some studies claim that people in the group eat less. When we eat alone or eat food with someone whose eating habits we are familiar with, we eat out of ignorance. Whereas the number of people in the group, their eating habits are different. Everyone lives in hesitation. Somewhere in my mind, there is a thinking that no one in front should establish a wrong opinion about my eating habits.

Many studies prove that obese children eat more alone than in a group. Similarly, when obese young people are with their weight, they tend to eat more chips and biscuits. Perhaps they are relieved that they are not the only ones who are obese. But when these same people are with thin people, they eat less.

The same thing has been seen in women as well. When women eat food with men, they eat fewer calories things. But when she eats food only with women, she eats everything without any diet.

Therefore, it can be said that the ways of society affect our eating habits. But to what extent they affect, no research has been done about it yet.

TAKE CARE WHAT AND HOW MUCH YOU ARE EATING

Professor Susan Higgs of the University of Birmingham, UK, says that eating in a group has a profound effect on the habits of children. He takes a balanced diet. Children need to learn how to eat from their elders. Especially for those who live for a long time, their eating habits must be taken into account.

In the kind of feasts given today, most of the food is served, which gives rise to obesity. People also eat fiercely, unaware of the fear of obesity. Statistics from the World Health Organization show that around one billion people around the world are obese. These include 30 crores 40 lakh children.

To adopt the right eating habits, we don't need to leave our friends and eat alone. Rather, we should pay attention to what we are eating and how much we are eating.

Even if you are going to a party somewhere, do not think that you will eat them fiercely if you get delicious dishes there. Remember, the grain is foreign, but the stomach is your own.

Controlling food is very important for good health.
