Arabic Kuthu, the first single from Vijay’s upcoming film Beast, directed by Nelson , has been released.
The song is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, sung by Anirudh and Jonita Gandhi, and has lyrics by actor Sivakarthikeyan. An earlier promo for the song featuring Nelson, Anirudh and Sivakarthikeyan went viral.
Produced by Sun Pictures, and reported to be an action-thriller, Beast also features Pooja Hegde, Yogi Babu, Shine Chacko and VTV Ganesh in important roles. It must be noted that the film was formally launched earlier last year, and plans are on for a release in early 2022.
The first song from Tamil superstar Vijay’s upcoming film Beast was released on Monday formally kick-starting the promotions of the film, which is due in cinemas in April. Also, given the song titled “Arabic Kuthu” is a peppy duet number, it also seems apt to release it on Valentine’s Day.
One of the highlights of the song is the lyrics, written by Sivakarthikeyan, which is likely to go right over the head of the listeners. The hook line of the song is ‘malama pitha pithadhe’ and it’s hard to tell what it means. One can’t even confidently tell if it has any base in the Arabic language. And that seems to be the fun part of the song. Composer Anirudh wants to make a point that as long as the music is enjoyable, people don’t sweat over incomprehensible lyrics. You see, music has no language.
The lyrical video also has a glimpse of Vijay and Pooja Hegde performing the hook step of “Arabic Kuthu”. It seems the makers wanted to unleash a social media trend among the fans. It is worth noting that when Vijay performed a few steps of the song “Vaathi Coming” during the audio release function of Master, it broke the internet.
Beast, which is written and directed by Nelson Dilpkumar, is now in post-production. It is gearing up for release in April this year. The industry buzz is that the makers have plans to release it in cinemas on April 14, clashing with Kannada star Yash’s multilingual film KGF: Chapter 2.
Pooja Hegde plays the female lead in the film. It also marks her return to Tamil cinema after a gap of nine years. She made her acting debut with Mysskin’s Mugamoodi in 2012, and later she became a popular face in the Telugu film industry.
The much-awaited song in the recent times from Tamil is finally out. Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast, released the five-minute song from the film, leaving fans of Vijay thrilled. The actor is seen burning the dance floor along with Pooja Hegde in Arabic Kuthu which has unusual, yet enjoyable lyrics by Sivakarthikeyan and fast-paced composition by Anirudh.
Anirudh himself has lent voice to the track along with Jonita Gandhi, who has collaborated with the composer for several songs in the past. The lyric video has Vijay and Pooja appearing in two stylish outfits with a colourful backdrop with several dancers shaking a leg. The Arabian theme attached to the lyrics and background is one of the highlights of the song.
Manoj Paramahamsa's rich visuals and Jani Master's dance choreography stand out in the video which also has BTS moments from shooting and dance rehearsals. A few glimpses of Anirudh and Jonita crooning for the song is also added in the video so as to satisfy fans of all of them elated.
A few days ago, a six-minute funny video featuring Nelson, Anirudh and Sivakarthikeyan was unveiled by the team, to announce the arrival of the song and to give an idea of the song's genre. A similar video was made for the trio's previous project, Doctor, as well.
Beast, which stars Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Bjorn Surrao, VTV Ganesh and Aparna Das among others, is expected to hit the screens in April. With Arabic Kuthu having released now, fans of Vijay are hoping that more updates on the movie, including songs and teaser, will be unveiled soon.
The film marks the third collaboration of Vijay and Anirudh after AR Murugadoss's Kaththi (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Master (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).
