Our scientists attach great importance to the events of Mass Extinction in the history of Earth. Due to these events, many changes occurred on the earth, due to which new species got the opportunity to flourish, and the old species had to undergo many changes in order to survive. Organisms that could not do so went extinct. Scientists from the University of Southampton have found in a major discovery that there were two periods of volcanic events that led to global cooling and oxygen depletion in the oceans. Because of these, the earth had to see a very deep catastrophe in its history.
Researchers, along with scientists from Oldenburg, Leeds, and Plymouth Universities, studied the ocean chemical effects of volcanic ash and lava during a period of extreme environmental change around 450 million years ago. Research published in the journal Nature Geoscience has shown that during this period our planet had become very cold, due to which there was a lot of glaciation and the Earth got a huge post-audition mass extinction.
Due to the event of this mass extinction, 85 percent of the species of the Earth's oceans were wiped out. Due to this, the evolution of the organisms of the earth was completely changed. The lead author of this study, Dr Jack Longman, said that the reason for the increase in global cooling was due to the excessive amount of phosphorus in the oceans. Phosphorus has the ability to convert carbon dioxide into organic matter in ocean organisms such as algae that reached the ocean floor, reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and increasing the cooling.
Dr Tom Gurney, co-author of this study, said that an unsolved puzzle here was why glaciation and mass extinction occurred in different periods, leaving a difference of 10 million years between the two. For this, it was necessary to have a phosphorus-providing system, but it was becoming very difficult to explain it. The team also identified two unusually large periods of volcanic activity across Earth that occurred around the peak periods of glaciation and catastrophe.
Gurney said that the timing of volcanic eruptions was related to the emission of large amounts of carbon dioxide, which should have caused global warming. Therefore, another process must have started due to which the cold would have started increasing. For this reason, scientists tried to know the second process by which the amount of phosphorus would have increased rapidly, which could explain the glaciation. Researchers said that when volcanic material accumulates in the oceans, it undergoes rapid chemical changes and starts to fertilize the oceans. Researchers tested its opinion.
The disaster coming from the sky towards the earth! Asteroid more powerful than atomic bomb reached halfway.
Washington, 03 December. The whole world is currently battling with many natural disasters. Meanwhile, now a great destruction is coming towards the earth from space as well. Recently, NASA scientists have warned that an asteroid is moving rapidly towards the Earth, which is it collided with our planet, it can cause destruction like the explosion of many atomic bombs. Although it is still far away from the earth.
The destruction coming from the sky towards the earth
It is worth noting that recently NASA has launched its new mission Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), which will be able to divert the path of asteroids that threaten the Earth in space. Although this mission is still in the process of testing, but before that big disasters are coming from the sky towards the earth. According to scientists, the speed of this asteroid is 4 miles per second.
