According to the news, another passenger express train hit a passenger train standing at Alamanda-Kontakappalli in Andhra Pradesh around 7 pm on Sunday (October 29). Four coaches of the passenger train derailed at the station.
Pictures shared on social media showed derailed coaches and people gathering on the side of the railway line. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Reddy expressed grief over the train accident.
According to a statement issued by the chief minister's office, as many ambulances as possible have been ordered to be sent to the accident site from the surrounding areas. Besides, the government officials have been asked to ensure prompt rescue operation and treatment of the injured.
In April this year, there was a collision between three trains in Odisha, India. 280 people lost their lives. Soon after the incident, the train accident happened again.
Terrible train accident in Bihar, 4 killed
At least four people were killed in a train accident in Bihar, India. Hundreds were injured.
Indian media NDTV reported that the North East Express train, which left Delhi's Anandbehar terminal at around 9:30 pm local time on Wednesday (October 11), derailed near Raghunathpur station near Boxer.
The passenger train was heading towards Kamakhya, a region near Guwahati in the state of Assam.
Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Chube confirmed the accident to NDTV and said members of the national and state disaster departments have reached the spot. The injured have been taken to All India Medical Institute in Bihar's capital Patna for treatment.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said he spoke to the state's disaster management department, health department and district officials of Buxar and Bhojpur. They have been ordered to carry out quick relief and rescue operations at the spot.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma's office has said that the Assam government is in touch with the Buxar district administration and all agencies involved in rescue and relief operations at the scene.
25 dead, more than 100 injured in a terrible train accident in Pakistan
A terrible train accident has occurred in the Sindh province of Pakistan. At least 25 passengers were killed and hundreds injured in the accident, 275 km from Karachi.
On Sunday (August 6), 10 coaches of the Havelian-bound Hazara Express derailed near Sahara Railway Station, Pakistan-based media Geo News reported.
Following the accident, train services to and from the interior districts of Sindh have been suspended. The death toll in this accident is expected to increase.
Benazirabad Police DIG Younis Chandi also said that the casualties were rescued from 9 out of 10 derailed coaches. He said that heavy machinery is needed to carry out rescue work in the remaining compartment.
Earlier, the railway authorities said that it may take 18 hours to complete the rescue work. And it will also take time to normalize rail traffic, because for this the derailed coaches will have to be removed.
However, the cause of the derailment is not yet known.
Meanwhile, Geo News reports that accidents are now "commonplace" in Pakistan's deteriorating rail system and that the government has been trying to raise funds to develop the rail network as part of China's Belt and Road Initiative for years.
