A 66-year-old South African public, who showed up in Bengaluru using Dubai last month, and a 46-year-old specialist at a private clinic in the city, with no movement history, are the initial two instances of Omicron to be recognized in India.

Crediting the identification of Omicron to "forceful testing", Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar said: "One individual, a 66-year-old who came from South Africa on November 20, who was asymptomatic, tried positive after his example was acquired at the air terminal. He was in a private inn. He tried negative on November 23 (and) got back to South Africa on November 27."
Alluding to the subsequent example, Sudhakar said: "He was indicative and had a fever. He tried positive on November 22 and holed up.
