How Turning Traffic In To Adsense Traffic

If you've been running AdSense ads on your site for a long time and don't think you're making as much money as you can, you're right in 99.99% of cases. Most people are frustrated that they are not getting the income they expected, and it depends on their traffic levels and click-through rates.

There are many ways to convert traffic to AdSense traffic, and here is a short list with an explanation for each.

The first thing you need to do is to set up your site's content. While this may not be an option for some people (which is much more difficult if you run a forum, for example), most people can monetize their AdSense sites.

To get started, you should learn what your site's keywords are. This is a fundamental technique in SEO (search engine optimization) known as keyword density validation. A good tool for this job is the SEO Density Analyzer.

You should then take this list of words and search the Overture Search Inventory or the Google Ads Sandbox to find out which words might work better than what you currently have.

From this point on, try to focus your site on what appears the most in the keyword suggestions you receive. Try to include these keywords, or at least some relevant keywords, in the links on your site as often as possible.

Because of the way Google AdSense works, this is a surefire way to increase your earnings as you will get better ads on your AdSense banners, similar to how you will get a better Google PageRank.

It is also important that you constantly add new pages to your site. This is very important because the more pages you have, the higher your chances of getting clicks on your ads.

It is also very important that you choose the appropriate formats for your AdSense banners and the best places for them. While this is a much broader topic, you should know that there are usually the first three Google AdSense formats: 336×280 large rectangle 300×250 medium rectangle and 160×600 skyscraper.

Make sure you choose the appropriate colors for the ads, because making them too different (or just too different) from your site's content will cause visitors to see them as banners that have nothing to do with the site itself.

Make sure these ads are placed where they will generate the most profit. Often times, this location is said to be just before the start of your site's actual content.

On pages with long text bodies, you may find that skyscrapers perform better as users are exposed to them longer. You can also find a good position to be at the bottom of your content for sites with news or similar items because then people will finish reading your story and look for something else to do.

If you have a lot of text on your page, you should use more AdSense units. Just make sure you don't overdo it, because if you use this technique inappropriately, you may find that you will end up with a much lower CTR and lower revenue than you did in the first place. You can add up to three units, so use them wisely.

There is a Google AdSense Preview Tool that lets you visualize what ads will be served on your page and can be very useful as a testing mechanism.

Make sure you follow the AdSense policy on click fraud. As a beacon, you can place an image next to your ads and make sure to leave some space in between to make sure this isn't seen as encouraging visitors to click the link.

There are of course more ways to increase AdSense traffic, from your site, but these should serve as a good starting point for revenue maximization.
