A transistor is said to be a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electrical signals and power. It can be said that the transistor is a basic building block of modern electronics. In fact, they are usually made of semiconducting material and have at least three terminals for connecting to an electronic circuit. A voltage or current applied to one pair of terminals of a transistor controls the current through another pair of terminals. The control (output) power can be greater than the driving (input) power, so the transistor can amplify the signal. Some transistors are individually packaged, while many more are built into integrated circuits. An electronic transistor was actually a small device that regulates the flow of current in a circuit. Transistors are very important electronic components used in circuits as they can be modified to function like other electronic components such as switches and oscillators. Transistors can be used as amplifiers as well. It is used when the input signal of the circuit is weak. Description:-
One way is to increase the frequency of the amplified electronic signal. An electronic oscillator is actually a circuit that generates a periodically oscillating electronic signal, usually a sine, square, or triangular wave. An oscillator is said to be a device that converts direct current (DC) from a power source into alternating current (AC). They are commonly used in a wide variety of electronic devices, from simple clock generators to digital devices (such as calculators) to complex computers and peripherals. An oscillator that generates AC power from a DC power supply is commonly called an AC power inverter. Transistor as an amplifier (grounded emitter configuration)
A transistor amplifier is actually a configuration in which an NPN transistor is configured with a grounded emitter configuration. It is also known as a common emitter transistor or amplifier. To operate a transistor amplifier, knowledge of amplification and amplifier is required. Emitter-Uses a weak input signal between the base junctions and gets the output through the load Rc connected to the collector circuit. Always make sure that the input circuit is biased in the forward direction and the output circuit is biased in the reverse direction to maximize the gain. In addition to the signal, the input circuit also uses a DC voltage, or VEE. Such a DC voltage, known as bias, is so large that it always keeps the input circuit forward biased, regardless of the polarity of the signal. Since the input circuit is low impedance, small changes in signal voltage cause noticeable changes in emitter current. A change in emitter current causes a similar change in the collector circuit due to the action of the transistor.
Transistor as an oscillator
An oscillator is a type of electronic circuit that generates a periodic, oscillating signal, most commonly a square wave and a sine wave. It essentially converts direct current from a power supply to alternating current.
If we use a transistor in a circuit, it continuously generates undamped oscillations at the circuit’s output terminals.
One such circuit is broken down into three sections:
(i) Tank Circuit: One such circuit generates oscillations that are amplified by the transistor, resulting in amplified output on the collector side.
(ii) Amplifier circuit: Such a circuit amplifies the small sinusoidal oscillations present in the base-emitter circuit and produces amplified output.
