How to touched by an Angel is the best ?- A review

Nominated for 3 Golden Globes and 12 Emmy, including two by Della Ridge for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, touched by an Angel built a large and loyal audience with its exciting themes and inspiring stories. The brainchild of John Massifs, creator of Providence (1999) and author of hit series such as St. Elsevier (1982) and LA Law (1986), touched by an Angel, follows in the footsteps of Michael Landon's successful series Highway to Heaven. The lone angelic exploits roaming around the United States providing support for lost souls in need of help were chronicled. Touched by an Angel is very similar, but the series uses many angels to achieve its purpose. The series, like Highway to Heaven, uses contemporary settings and modern issues, allowing the show to reach a wider audience that enjoys its themes of love, hope, and redemption.

Touched By An Angel follows the exploitation of many angels sent to earth as "caseworkers" to convey God's message of love, peace, and hope to the bereaved. When the series begins, Monica (Roma Downey), a novice caseworker, is still in training (recently promoted from "Search and Rescue"). Helping Monica, and in her own right, is a caseworker, Tess (Della Reese) who imparts her knowledge of many years of experience in tackling massive suffering problems. Together, these two angels interact with people on earth, reducing the burden of each soul with which they come in contact. In later seasons, Monica and Tess will be joined by Andrew (John Dye), Angel of Death, who also works as a caseworker to help with weight loss, and in the last two seasons (2001-2003), Gloria (Valerie Bertinelli). Will be joining the trilogy as a regular recurring angel character ... Overall, touched by an Angel met a very unmet need with a TV programming landscape. Much of today's programming is focused on love, violence and "reality", the hour-long CBS drama provides in-depth investigative family-oriented content that always leaves its viewers with a positive and upbeat feeling ...

The Touched By An Angel DVD has several touching episodes, including the series premiere "The Southbound Bus" in which Monica Angel is ready for her first case after being promoted from "Search and Rescue". While on the Southbound bus, she befriends a young man named David, who tells her the story of her sister and mother, who died in a car accident. But when Monica is hired as David's nanny, she soon finds out the truth. David's mother is still alive, and Monica's assignment is to reunite with her family ... Other notable episodes of Season 1 include "Casey's Choice" in which Monica and Tess help the teenager decide whether to have a baby. Leaving her child for an adopted son, and "there, but for God's grace" in which Monica loses her angelic powers to learn her own lessons while working with many homeless people ...
