How Top5Gaming used Oslo to onboard a new editor and streamline their workflow?

Top5Gaming is a YouTube Channel that creates listicle-style gaming videos. They highlight new features, top tips, epic moments, the best strategies, and more. Top5Gaming is part of a big family of channels from VisionsDigital, which includes T5G and Top5Central. Top5Gaming has amassed over 1 billion views and regularly posts new content every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. They reach over 60,000,000 passionate gamers per month and continue to expand the titles they cover.

As the gaming sector continues to perform amazingly well on YouTube, the Top 5 gaming teams at Visions Digital have focused on growing. They wanted to find a video review and collaboration solution that could help diminish redundancy in their workflow and streamline how they produce content.

2.Challenges Facing Top5Gaming

Top5Gaming creates many videos quickly and at high production quality. They needed a system that helped to keep feedback organized and ensure videos were formatted correctly and met their quality requirements.

The previous review process was a tedious experience that involved constant downloading and re-uploading of videos to get to a finished product. The outdated process forced the team to use several platforms to manage the necessary video assets. It was inefficient, with unnecessary back and forth.

The review process as a whole seemed semi-redundant. We’re in the process of finding an assistant editor and will need to be able to provide feedback on content coming from our new talent before we publish.

3.Overcoming Redundancy and Tracking Progress

As the team began experimenting with Oslo, it was clear it would significantly decrease the time it takes to create a finished product.

One of the essential aspects of the production process is maintaining organization when there are numerous types of video with different adjustments. With Oslo, the ability to update a video's status helped keep Top5Gaming organized as they worked on three to four videos at once.

Being able to track the progress of the edits on our videos the whole way through creation to upload simplifies our production tremendously.

The addition of color-coded annotations means Top5Gaming can communicate complex edits. For example, blue annotations denote SFX changes. Red annotations represent B-Roll changes, orange marks, and VO corrections.

Many video editors understand the frustrations of continually uploading new versions of a video for review. With the ability to publish directly to YouTube, Top5Gaming helped to save countless hours of tedious work.

We won't have to download the old files repeatedly to complete what we can do in Oslo with a single click thanks to the "Publish to YouTube" feature single, which will save us a tremendous amount of time.

4.Looking Ahead

As Top5Gaming continues to create content, Oslo is an essential tool to interact with editors.

We believe that the features of inclusive Oslo.io listed above will benefit our workflow very well. We can be more precise in conveying necessary changes to our production teams. We are cheerful with Oslo as a whole.

5.Regarding Formula

One of the most well-known gamers on YouTube is Alex Kushelevskiy, aka Formula, who has an eight-million-fan social media following and specializes in Minecraft and Fortnite. Alex, a family-friendly content maker, started his gaming career by founding his own company before deciding to focus on content development full-time.

6.His Previous Process

Alex's regular creative approach consisted of spending 4-5 hours per day creating material, sending files through email to numerous editors, and patiently waiting for responses. If he needed comments or changes, he would have to write his editors repeatedly until the polished version was complete.

The review process as a whole seemed semi-redundant. We are in the process of finding an assistant editor and will need to be able to provide feedback on content coming from our new talent before we publish.

7.Succeeding with Oslo

When Oslo approached Alex, he tried it out, and it was immediately explicit that the tool made his former process much smoother and avoided a lot of emails and calls back and forth to change parts of his video content.

I've tried other platforms and editing software (Filmora); however, I searched Oslo and had tools that others don't, including time, stamped comments, and direct upload to YouTube.

Alex saw how Oslo could help reduce the costs of using his editors' time to communicate changes. Given that the procedure will move more quickly if they work together via the platform rather than exchanging long emails, he may pay them less per hour.

I work with editors, and it can be hectic when going back and forth on edits to get the best final product. Luckily Oslo's tools have helped make this process much smoother for me.

8.Looking Ahead

Since discovering the platform, Alex has already recommended Oslo to a few of his content creator friends, including my roommates.

I hope they can check it out and give it a try because many of us use editors. We all could free up some time for other parts of our process.
