Are people born in the morning like this, can they be made like this? I have certainly become so. When I was twenty-one year, old, I rarely went to bed before midnight. And I almost always slept late. And often my activities started in the afternoon. After some time, I could not ignore the deep connection between getting up in the morning and being successful, even in my life. Whenever I have woken up early on those few occasions, I have found that my productivity has almost always been high, not only in the morning but throughout the day. And I have also felt myself to be better. So, being a proactive goal-achiever, I decided to make a habit of getting up in the morning.
I thought that maybe I was born without the gene that wakes up in the morning. Whenever my alarm sounded, the first thought that came to my mind was that I should turn off that noise and go to sleep. I kept doing this for many years, but one day I got a sleep research, from which I came to know that I was solving this problem in a wrong way. And when I applied these ideas, I started being able to get up in the morning continuously.
It is difficult to get used to getting up in the morning with the wrong strategy, but it is relatively easy to do with the right strategy.
It seems that there are two ideologies about taking sleep patterns. One is that you go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. It is as if there is an alarm clock on both sides – you try to sleep the same number of hours every night. It seems practical to live in a modern society. We must have an accurate estimate of our plan. And we also need enough rest.
The second ideology says that you listen to the needs of your body and when you are tired then go to sleep and then get up when naturally your sleep is broken. This approach has its roots in biology. Our body should know how much rest we need, so we should listen to it.
If you sleep at a certain time, sometimes you will go to sleep when you are not getting enough sleep. If it is taking you more than 5 minutes to fall asleep, it means that you are not sleeping properly right now. You are wasting your time lying on the bed; are not sleeping. Another problem is that you think that you need an hour's sleep every day to wake up, which is wrong. You do not need the same amount of sleep every day.
The most common wrong strategy is that you think that if you want to get up early in the morning, then it will be better to go to bed early. So you look at how many hours of sleep you get, and then let everything slip before something deeper. If you sleep now from midnight to 8 in the morning, then now you decide that you will go to sleep at 10pm and get up at 6am. Sounds logical to hear, but most of the time this method does not work.
