iPhone Tips And Tricks

An old iPhone hack was tapping at the top of the screen to go back to the top of a webpage or document. If you are in an app, or even on a Web site in Safari, you can swipe up to the top of the screen by tapping on the screen just where the lower portion of the notches starts. If you are still at the bottom of a page, you can slide to the right and left on the address bar to quickly jump from one tab to another, just like with apps in the latest models of the iPhone. Once the selection is made, you can go into your Settings app> Accessibility> Touch> Back tap> Double tap/Triple tap, then choose a shortcut.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap and choose the feature to use with double and triple taps, like Spotlight, silence sound, or navigate to the Home screen. You can configure Back Tap to make double-taps or triple-taps to the back of your iPhone to do actions that you would otherwise need to tap. Whether you want to tap on the back of your iPhone to silence your iPhone, or even take a screenshot, this Back Tap function makes that task easy.

With iOS 14, Apple introduced the ability for users to tap twice or three times on the back of their iPhone to activate the specified action that users have on the back of their iPhone. To use the feature, you need an iPhone with 3D Touch capabilities (iPhone 6S or later), and this trick works with any iPad as well. This iPhone trick is especially helpful when you are trying to reach the top of the camera roll in a Photos app. With Magnifier turned on, you can open up the iOS Camera app and triple-tap the Side Button (Home Button on older phones) to pull up Magnifiers options.

You can do the same thing with your email apps, so if you want to use Spark or Gmail as the default, instead of Mail, you head into Settings, look for your third-party email app, tap it, and then select your default mail app in the following screen, then select Spark (or whichever email app you are using). One new feature of Apple's iOS software is being able to choose other apps to be the defaults for things like your Internet browser or your email app.

If you want to use Chrome as the default browser, just download Chrome from the App Store, then open the Settings app on your phone, and look for Chrome on the list at the bottom.

Its battery health feature uses machine learning to learn about your charging habits on a day-to-day basis, so it might wait until it is done charging until it is 80% charged before you need to use your iPhone.

Either volume button also starts/stops a video recording. If you get wired headphones connected to the iPhone, you can use the volume buttons on the wires to do the same, essentially using them as remote shutters.
