Most people who make money on eBay actually do not make all that money on eBay. There are all sorts of ways you can use eBay to give your existing businesses a helping hand.
Provisioning Side.
If you have any leftover stock or used items from another business you use, then why not sell them on eBay? You can make this a common practice, using it to remove items that are not for sale at the store, or for items that are no longer needed in the city or town where your business is located.
You can make a lot of money this way, if you know what you are doing. Yes, you will become an expert on the things you sell, as you use them in your business, and you will know that things are good enough to be sold. This is a completely new market for your old word list!
Not only that, of course, but remember that your good eBay reputation will make you a great buyer! If there is anything you want to get for your business, there is a good chance you can find it on eBay to get a discount.
The Sales Side.
This, however, is where the true power of eBay lies. EBay offers you a ‘About Me’ page, where you can post anything you like and connect anywhere you like. This means you can get traffic to your business website by linking your website to your About Me page and linking to your About Me page at each auction.
To create a About Me page, just click on the 'Community' toolbar, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and then click 'Create a About Me' page. Then find the option to insert your HTML or let eBay guide you through the process. All you have to do is write a little bit about your website, link to it, and you’re done - you’ll notice that more people start coming to your site faster.
There are thousands of people swearing by this strategy of driving traffic from eBay to their website - with a small promotional copy of your site, they say, you can sell directly to buyers, cut out the eBay middleman. In addition, all the traffic you will receive will be directed - because the people who clicked became interested in your auction to begin with.
This can be a really powerful tool, especially if you already have an e-commerce domain. Even if you have not already done so, you may find it worth your time to set up an idle website other than your eBay inventory for a few dollars per item, with PayPal’s ‘Buy Now’ button for each item. Then just make a link to your About Me page that reads ‘Visit my website for more articles!’, And you’re done.
Now that you've seen how you drive visitors to your website, you might want a little help finding your auction in front of customers. That’s why our next email will show you the secrets to controlling the eBay search engine.
