How to tackle with Your teen-age child in the the most efficient way ?

“Transitions are always way more complicated than a unidirectional move.”

A similar kind of complicated and messy transition is observed with the shift one undergoes between childhood to adulthood.

‘The Age of Adolescence’ or vitally known as ‘Teenage.’ It’s a span of years in an individual‘s life where one grows towards self-dependence and starts exploring their own self. With all these fantasies and dreams, this age brings uncertainties, unrest, and a whole lot of insecurities. So, today we will be contemplating great ways one can help an adolescent in balancing their life.

So let’s begin……….

  • Making them feel loved and supported unconditionally, Being affectionate to teens will significantly help a lot; adolescents seek love and support providing them with the same will indeed make them feel secure and confident, simultaneously will grow in them a positive sense of affection towards you which will further strengthen your bond and will tend them to share their heart out. At certain times, they might turn hostile towards this affection, but still, you need to be cool and consistent in your ideals.
  • Making them feel their biological changes normal and necessary, The extent of changes one’s body goes through in this age is immense; this builds the sense of insecurity and inferiority complexes. Sharing your own growth experience might help. Attempting to normalize these feelings by disapproving myths and taboos on their body changes would open their mind about it. It’s high time we should make these changes sound obvious and necessarily normal.
  • Giving them the right perspective to understand relations, It’s the age one is most likely to fall prey to evil intentions as the thoughtfulness to understand the difference between love and attraction is quite scarce. Hence, it would help if you shared some random Life incidents, which somewhere gives an identification between the two in a positive sense. It’s required that you try to develop an understanding with them to let them feel free to share their secrets with you to guide them on it. Again sharing your own age experiences, stories that opened your eyes and changed your life would be of great significance.
  •
  • Working together, encouraging them to share their feelings is absolutely important; engaging them in works like daily chores and non-school work will ease the procedure of spending time with your to-be young child. These hours of togetherness should include light social and frank talks rather than conflicting ones; remember, this time is to be made pleasurable, not avoidable. Making them feel ‘We are into this together’ supplements their emotional growth and will also get a sense of belongingness.
  • Tend to make your relationship Symbiotic rather than making them assume themselves a burden. Due to psychological growth, one tends to seek independence socially and financially where they might feel themselves a mere responsibility to their parents; this might adversely affect them. So please seek suggestions from them to make them realize their worth in the family or society on a larger scale. Don’t ever attempt to overpower or dominate their decisions. Even if a conflict arises, cool down and present it with slight humor, thereafter shifting to a meaningful tone.

That’s all, and thus would begin an amazing parent-teen relationship. Teens make the best youth; all that is required is to shape them righteously.
