It is natural to worry whether your child is getting enough food if they refuse to eat sometimes. some kids may refuse food without tasting it. Kids may feel that food does not look good and has the same color, visible marks, and imperfections, which could put kids off eating. Rejection of new food is considered a normal response, rising in age 20, before gradually declining for about eight years. Keep offering a variety of foods_ it may take many attempts before your child accepts some foods. Children often develop an appetite for good food after hard work or directly after school or kindergarten. Many wake up hungry and ready for breakfast. Identify your child's 'hungry' places and make sure you offer something nutritious at this time, and it's a good time to give something new.
.Always make sure that all family members share meals at the same time. This means no media distractions like TV, tabs, or cell phones at mealtime. Try to serve one food item for the whole family and refuse to make another meal if your child rejects the meal you have served. This only encourages picky eating. If your child refuses a meal, don't be panic over it.
.Involve kids in meal planning.Ask them to pick some fruit and vegetable of their choice to make for lunch or dinner.
If your child rejects the food, do not force them to eat it. Just take the food away without saying anything. Try the food again another time. .Do not leave meals until your child is too hungry or tired to eat.
Tell kids softly that there will be no food serving once this meal is done for at least two hours.
"If you eat your vegetables, you will get dessert.".Never make deals with your kids. Strategies like these don't work in the long run. Kids who learn to make deals about eating quickly learn to make deals and ask for rewards for doing other things_such as brushing teeth or taking a shower etc.
.If your child is struggling with food, do not overlook it as much as possible.
.Make healthy food fun. For example, cut sandwiches into delicious treats or let your child help you prepare a salad or egg whisk with an omellete and then encourage kids by telling other family members that this meal is prepared with their help. Try this, n you will see that your child is trying to eat that meal with excitement.
.Try to make your own healthy diet using good quality meat for burgers, pizzas, etc., if they like to eat junk food items.
. Do not give your child too many snacks between meals - 2 healthy snacks a day are enough.
Make mealtime more enjoyable than eating. Sit down and discuss other things.
If you know other children of the same age who are eating well, ask them for tea. But don't talk too much about how good the other kids are.
Ask an adult if your child likes and looks up to eat with you. Sometimes a child will eat someone else, such as a grandparent, without an argument.
. Changing the way you deliver food can make it more appealing. For example, your child may refuse cooked carrots but enjoy raw carrots. In the meantime, remember that your child's eating habits won't likely change overnight_but the small steps you take each day can help a lot.
