How to Study for exam, Effective Tips

5 Effective Focus tips for Exam

1)Wake Up, Sid

The morning routine is the most vital step, it decides how productive your day will be.
First, start with  making a list of topics to study today ( Goal Checklist)

  •  You will have a target to study rather than blindly studying, and as long as your list of tasks is getting completed, your confidence level will also boost.
You will develop PMA (positive mental attitude). If you develop that Positive mental attitude, you can happily do the rest of the task in your checklist.
  •  Do not come across social media in the morning; cut down your addiction
  •  Early in the morning, addiction leads to the addiction momentum, and then it becomes difficult to get over it  later in  the day

Julie Morgenstern in her book "Never check email in the morning" tell us more about this kind of thing.

  •  If you start your day studying, you will be studying all day.

2) Be a  computer

  • As a computer, when turned on, do its job seriously, taking and implementing every command until its shutdown,  you need to do that.

Cal Newport, in his book "Deep work", says that
High quality work  productivity= ( time spent)* ( intensity of focus )

  • Please start with the most difficult topic first because at the starting of the day, your focus is maximum it gradually declines with the passing hours
  •  Start with a short study session, take a break, then start with a little bit longer studies session like
  • 30 min - 5 min ( break ) - 45 min- 5 min ( break )-60 min - 10 Min (break)
  • or you can use the Pomodoro technique
  • 25 Min studying and then 5 min break
  • After every 4 Pomodoro
    Take a longer break
  • 25 - 5 - 25- 5 -25 ...... and so on
  • After every 4 Pomodoro, Take a longer break
  •  Before starting a new session, revise the things you learned in the previous session.

Try to solve some questions about the related topics.

3) Relax

Author David Allen in his book "Getting things done" says that your ability to generate power is directly proportional to your ability to relax.

  • After every 3 to 4 study sessions, just relax to don't overwork yourself and become tired.
  •  In this relaxed time, don't watch television or get into your smartphone scrolling social media or talking to a friend because once you get addicted, it's hard to get out of it.
  • Instead, you can go for a short walk admiring nature; you will feel the cool breeze on your face, your mind will feel refreshed, and study shows that walking increases brain activity.
It's said that Walking can do miracles.

4) Fake it till you make it:

If your focus is getting disturbed after applying all those above methods,  you cannot get out of your mobile and TV addiction; then you can use this technique, and trust me, it will help you all out.

  • Take your favorite subject Text Book from your course, which has many pictures or maybe no pictures. Still, you like the subject, go through the Book, turn over the pages, and act like you are studying. You don't need to study. You need to act like you are studying. You need to pretend like you are studying. By doing this, your mind gets back to studying, and it will always be helpful, and it will be proved helpful.

5)  Last Resort:

  • Lastly, if that doesn't work, you can see pictures of pretty and well handwritten decorated notes, yes it will seem quite a  childish thing, but it works.
