How to stop caring what other people think about us
As humans, we all want to be loved and thus pleasing others, and caring about what others think of us is obvious. But living a life with constant fear will only give us anxiety and eventually make us lose confidence in life. Here are some ways that you can implement to become happier and less caring about what others think.
1.What we think about ourselves is the key
In this society where everyone has a judgmental view about others, having a clear vision about who we are, what we want to be, and what matters to us the most is extremely powerful. Defining ourselves on our terms makes us more conscious and self-aware about ourselves and our decisions. It's important, to be honest simultaneously because that's how we learn to accept ourselves and live life to its fullest without any fear of judgment.
2.How we see others
Now the truth is, we cannot stop worrying about what others think about us until and unless we don't stop judging them. If we have a positive and neutral outlook towards others, it becomes way easier for us not to care because when we judge others, we do not define them; we define ourselves.
3.Being ok with not being ok
Life is all about perspective. And you cannot change it for anyone. Different people have distinct circumstances, which dictate their views about each other. Some people will like you, understand you, while others may hate you for no reason. So let small bad things happen to you and embrace them because that's how you will learn to be ok without being ok.
4.Prioritizing people
If you don't take control over your time and your life, others will destroy it, and therefore you have to be clear about people who really deserve your time and energy. Be very clear about whose opinion matters and whose not. Not every thought on us is self-judgment, but sometimes it is hard to differentiate and thus, ultimately stops us from self-improvement. Therefore it's important to prioritize people who are important to us and who genuinely care about us.
5.Practicing positive self-talk
Have you ever had one of those moments before an exam, or a stage performance, where you mindfully talked with yourself in front of a mirror or just in your mind, and it ultimately makes you feel more confident? Those mindful self-talks are magical, my friends. The way we talk with ourselves can tell a lot about us. Suppose we are not respectful to ourselves; how we can expect others to be. So make it your habit to spend some with yourself. Talk to yourself about how to feel, things you are grateful for, and things that motivate you.
At last, everything requires practice. We can not wake up one day and be completely new versions of ourselves. People will continue to judge, whatever we do, wherever we go, but in the end, it depends on us, how we respond to them, and how we let these things affect us.
