How to stay fit forever: 9 tips to keep moving when life gets in the way

It is obvious to anyone that the number of people who don’t take fitness seriously at all is a bunch. The gym culture has become an instant hit and it will take just about any person out there to admit how much she lacks exercise! Not wanting to give up, we are here with our list of the best tips for you!

1 If You Don’t Have Time To Exercise At All, Make Your Bed

If you’re like me, every minute counts and you never seem to get enough time to complete your work outside of homework or running errands. That doesn’t mean that you should give up on making yourself look attractive; instead of looking down at your boring bed in front of the mirror, spend some time doing something different. Pick out one of those new comings from the closet so that, when nobody is watching, you can see what’s underneath! When all else fails, make sure you have a small area where you can work out without anybody bothering you. Even if it means doing squats on the floor! And if you want to pick a challenge, try jumping rope! I love jumping rope and I think everyone else likes sports too. Try this!

2 Get A Workout Pillow

This should also be on your workout sheet! Some of my personal favorites include “Pillowman” by Steve Madden, and a pillow by Sleepy Hollow; both are extremely comfortable to sleep with and ideal if you find yourself needing extra cushioning! Just remember to keep them clean as they might be an infection risk. Another good choice would probably be the FITY HALLOOP one. This also has a lot of pockets, which makes it very useful. My favorite one is this one because it isn’t super hard for me, but others prefer softer ones.

3 Invest In Proper Equipment- Fitness Gym

Just about every gym and fitness center has its own range of machines and equipment for its users- either cardio machines, resistance machines, or bodyweight exercises. They’ll usually provide free online tutorials which you should follow along with. On top of that, most gyms even come with a ton of accessories and weights, making it easier to choose from and practice a variety of ways to exercise. Plus, you can always join groups which will help you build up your knowledge and skills. So, why not start practicing now instead of giving yourself excuses like not having the equipment. There are plenty of facilities out there, whether this is the local library or a community center, so even if you aren’t lucky enough to join one, you will find a place that you can go to get motivated. Don’t forget to look for those classes which will not only inspire you but also motivate you to stick to your fitness goals and become more physically active.

4 Start With Smaller Goals

Let me begin by saying that this advice is only applicable if you want to lose weight or gain muscle mass. Unless you want to improve your health and become a better person, it’s better to focus on smaller, achievable things like losing 10 pounds instead of trying to accomplish the impossible. As for the motivation factor, there are several things to consider, including your emotional state, how much you think about yourself, you, and how much you want to succeed. Also, you might want to check out these articles for tips to help motivate you to stay focussed on your workouts. Now that you’ve decided on your goal, start building a routine, so that you feel motivated to keep it up for the next few months. After a couple of weeks, the next thing you need to do is increase your size if you want to become bigger- as is done for athletes. Again, this advice is only beneficial if you want to lose weight. However, if you do want to gain muscle, you do get a boost from knowing that you’re getting stronger and your muscles will have more strength than before. This is important in many ways like being able to go faster and harder without thinking. Yes, it’s really that simple.

5 Takeaways More Often

A lot of people don’t like to eat food at home, they just want to grab some somewhere they can take it. But since we live in a society that tends to run out of things to snack on after working out a day, takeaways are one of the best ways to obtain protein, nutrients, and other helpful stuff. When we need snacks, we can buy healthy options at the supermarket and enjoy taking them to the park without having a problem. This way, you won’t feel guilty or be tempted by eating fast food or ready meal meals. You can even get tasty and healthier versions in restaurants which are often cheaper, as opposed to quick food joints. Definitely try to go to a restaurant in a different part of town. Then, try getting some organic foods from farmer’s markets, which are still worth the trip.

6 Add Protein To Every Meal

I’m a big fan of lean meats, especially beef, and venison, so I recommend replacing the chicken if you want to add more lean protein. Meat that can’t get overcooked or leftovers is another type of protein that is great for helping gain an athletic performance. Having said that, you don’t need to worry about that. We can simply use canned tuna, salmon, and shrimp rather than buying fresh ones. If you’re short on cash, it’ll still be okay, just ask the person who paid to borrow the meat from yours! No, don’t let that stop you from adding veggies and lots of vegetables to your dishes! Just remember to cook it slowly and avoid overdoing it at all costs. A healthy diet really shouldn't bother you unless you're trying to lose weight, so try to be careful and eat as few processed foods as possible.

7 Drink Water

This might sound like just about every college student's worst nightmare, but I've seen it happen at my university in England. Instead of drinking water, most of us drink alcohol. Although I understand the logic behind it, this can affect your performance. Most importantly, you shouldn’t drink when you’re tired either because it takes time for the brain to clear toxins. If you really need a soda during a long period of training, it’s fine. There are plenty of alternatives out there, such as natural energy drinks, lemon water, green tea, and fizzy drinks. You might even prefer frozen water. The most effective ones are Gatorade and Ready hydration packs that provide a proper solution.
This is very important. Studies show that hydration decreases cortisol and pain in older adults. People who don’t drink enough water suffer from dehydration and also get a reduced performance in academics, sports, and everyday life. So, there’s no excuse not to drink, otherwise, nothing! Since you can’t sweat all over and enjoy that water bottle.

8 Practice Yoga Or Pilates

I have always been a bit lazy with yoga as well as pilates, but lately, due to the school closures, I have put together a series of videos to show you how beautiful and easy it can be to learn to do them. I always start off on the simplest form, starting with poses like downward dog, standing side bend, and holding poses on different planes- all for beginners. By the end of each video, I encourage you to try a different pose on the website, either by following the steps carefully or by creating your own individual post for your YouTube channel or blog. These poses are very fun. Not only does it relax your mind, but it gives you a sense of accomplishment too. Practicing for 20 minutes is good enough to reach success in both activities. Remember, the first two poses are easy to grasp on a tiny mat with minimal support, whereas mastering the fourth one is much harder. Doing poses regularly helps with improving your technique and concentration, as well, but you can also get inspired by popular celebrities who use it as a lifestyle!

9 Eat High Carb Diets Too

My wife and I used to argue about how unhealthy high-carb diets can actually be. This is because most of them are full of sugar, which doesn’t contribute to good health as it causes insulin spikes. Sugar can cause blood sugar spikes to happen faster, which could lead to heart disease and diabetes. On the other hand, high-fat diets can have serious consequences too, especially if you have Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Not to mention that you’ll need to replace that lost lean muscle mass, which is what most of us can easily get. High-carb diets aren’t meant for everyone, however, if you want to lose body fat, low-carb diets are a great alternative option. What we’re saying is, try incorporating more fats into your diet. If you do want to use the keto diet, it’s still worth exploring and researching if that’s in line with your goals! Low-fat diets often make you feel better, but they tend to lower your mood (or stress levels). Check out my article on low-fat diets vs high-protein diets after reading this one.
