How To Stay Fit and Healthy The Fun Way

Do you find the thought of exercise boring, a waste of your time or does if make you feel like yawning?

Many people are put off working out on a consistent basis because it feels too regimental, like a plan that they must follow or else. But, many people who do workout have found a fun and easy way to keep themselves fit and active on a consistent basis and they are reaping the rewards of living such a healthy lifestyle - they feel more energised, more confident in themselves, healthy and feel great about what they are doing.

So how do they do it?

They simply participate in an activity which they find fun, something like football. I will give you a few more ideas later, but think about it - when you join a local team sport you aren't just exercising your body but you are socializing with people of a similar mind, nature and interest. Folks who do this are much more inclined to participate on a regular basis. They will turn up on the scheduled days not just for the exercise but to meet with the friends they have made there and have a great time.

Now doesn't that sound a lot more fun than pushing out another thirty push ups?

What if you don't like football? Have a look in your local sports centre for lots of meet-ups and you may find something that catches your interest. If you have never tried a different type of sport, then look for beginner classes, most types of sports or activities hold beginner classes so there's no need to worry about not being great at whatever you're looking into.

Here are a few examples I have found in my local area and some of them I have never thought about participating in before I seen them advertised:

Wall Climbing - this is a great way to get fit and strong. Climbing uses all of your muscles to pull yourself up the wall and with different levels of wall difficulty there is no reason not to give this a try. Wall climbing leads to outdoor climbing with visits to local landmarks where other rock climbers meet up. What a great way to stay fit and healthy.

Tennis - my local tennis club meets on a regular basis during the summer months. Tennis is a great way to stay fit and a match can last for a good two hours. The great thing I like about tennis is that it's not all running around, you take small breaks whist serving and every three games for a water break.

I also seen others - rugby, basketball, volley ball, local running club meet-ups and hill walking as well as martial arts and karate classes.

There are so many options to choose from it would be impossible to participate in them all on a regular basis, but what I would recommend is that you try at least two of them out and see if you enjoy them.

There are so many benefits to joining in with team sports, not because you are a highly competitive person, but because it's fun and enjoyable to meet with friends and have a good time moving your body and joining in but especially for the level of fitness you can achieve doing these sporting activities. Your body will reflect this outwardly in whatever sport you choose but more importantly you will enjoy the process.
