How to sell eBooks on Amazon and earn up to $2,000 per month

If you have dreamed of becoming a writer, one of my favorite things to do is to watch authors become entrepreneurs and sell e-books on Amazon.

I'm so glad my friend Ahmed shared how she published her books on Amazon. We both started our online journeys around the same time and it's very exciting to see where her online journey has led.

Are you an information entrepreneur, blogger, or content creator willing to share wisdom and want to add an additional source of income to your online business? Because writing and publishing Amazon eBooks can be a great way to generate additional income in your business on autopilot.

How to Make an Extra $2,000 a Month to Sell Ebooks on Amazon

Selling e-books for profit doesn't have to be something that only traditionally published authors can do. In fact, you can get started and add this as an additional source of income for your business this month!

All you need is 3-4 e-books, each bringing in $500 in sales or just one best-selling e-book!

But just like any other platform, Amazon rewards consistent authors, and you can become more authoritative by creating and publishing multiple eBooks in your niche that suit your audience's needs.

And don't forget that you get extra income from KDP royalties even for those who had free access to your e-book! A win-win!

How to Research and Test Your Ebook Ideas

A subtle but very important part of launching e-books that sell is to cater to a specific audience in your niche. It's not just about writing the eBooks you want to write…

If you want your books to sell, it's important to create helpful guides on topics that your audience is actively interested in.

Here are a few ways to explore ebook topics and test your ideas before you start writing them:

 # 1 – Check out the Amazon bestseller list for eBooks.

Want to know what's on sale on Amazon? Look at Amazon. A simple but effective strategy.

Amazon publishes weekly summaries of its best-selling and most-read books, which include up to 20 popular titles. In addition, they also share a list of the 100 Best Kindle Books that you can use for inspiration.

You can take it one step further and make your search more niche-focused by browsing Amazon's top 100 bestsellers in a specific category, such as Self Help.

#2 – Fill in the Gap – Eliminate Negative Reviews

Once you have a few ideas for topics that are popular and close to your audience's heart, you can start coming up with your own ebook ideas to sell ebooks on Amazon.

And the best way to do that is to look at the negative reviews of the books that are already out there and fill the market gap.

Create something better than what already exists!

For example, while browsing the Self Help category, I came across this book about overthinking and sorting the reviews by a star from 1 start review up. And I came across this review:

If I were an educator or business owner in the self-help niche, I would see this as an opportunity to write a self-help book on how to stop thinking for teenagers or young adults.

Customer reviews can not only help you find gaps in the market and a unique perspective for your own books, but also provide insight into your audience's concerns and desires.

Because chances are there are already hundreds of e-books in your niche and topic of choice. But you can look at the shortcomings of these books and create truly epic guides that leave no room for bad reviews!

#3 – Use Helium 10 to test potential profit

Once you get close to a few ideas, you want to test them by seeing if there's any interest in the particular problem your eBook is solving.

Sometimes it's not enough for a book to become an Amazon bestseller. You want to actually check how many copies they sell each month and how other books on the subject are selling.

And I just have a tool for this - Helium 10.

This tool allows you to follow the analytics of any book or product on Amazon and compare them. This way, you not only test your e-book idea but also make sure that it is an e-book that can make a profit.

In the maternity niche (at least for UK sales), I see 4 books that sell very well - all on slightly different topics: for example, the modern midwife guide to pregnancy, guilt-free pregnancy, a guide to baby sleep, and even yoga for pregnancy. Pregnant women book.

If I were in this niche, I would either:

Write a similar guide to pregnancy advice without guilt. This book sells 200 copies a month and brings in over £2,400 (which is $3,000) a month.

Write a pregnancy yoga book and a couple of other e-books in less competitive niches. This book sells approximately 50 copies per month, earning £460 ($600), which means you need 3-4 books in this niche to reach the same goal!

Of course, you must also take into account your own qualifications and experience. But this is just an exercise to show you that you can monetize this experience by sharing helpful guides.

And the math speaks for itself! This is just a guess as to what is possible.

How to sell eBooks on Amazon

Even if you've never written a book in your life, you can sell eBooks on Amazon.

If you've never written an eBook before, I know the prospect can be daunting. But you can write an e-book in just 30 days, even if you're a beginner!

Once you've chosen your final theme, start creating your eBook and then follow the Amazon instructions in your author account to format your eBook for Kindle and publish it.
