How To Save The Whole World: A Simple Guide For Saving The Environment
We are the first generation to know we’re destroying the world, and we could be the last that can do anything about it. Speaking up is one of the most powerful things you can do, especially for the right people. Talk to your MP. Tell them to commit to action to protect our natural world.
Section 1: Why You Should Care
1. Climate Change
That’s right, the world’s temperature is rising, and this is a problem. Climate change is one of the biggest threats to our survival on this planet, and only ten countries have the power to stop it, and that’s just in terms of climate action alone.
2. Pollution
Pollution is one of the biggest threats to our survival, primarily because of the developing world that’s made up of 60% of the world’s population. This is because their factories belch out toxic pollution. They burn petrol for hours and release carbon dioxide into the air, killing thousands of people every day.
3. Food
The world is currently under siege.
Speak up
Many cities worldwide have committed to reducing the amount of plastic they use to celebrate their green attributes. If you’re in an area with a commitment to plastic reduction, share your plans on social media. Keep this up until it hits the national level.
Find alternatives
If you’re buying plastic-wrapped items (like meat and fruit), make sure to ask the farmer if he’s using compostable material instead. Or ask the person who bags your groceries if he’s using paper bags. In France, supermarket bags are now banned. They cost 1.30 euros for 300g of paper and 25 cents for a plastic bag.
Get creative. When you go to the store, get in the habit of taking the product you need to the counter with you.
The Power Of One Person
Coffee2Corbyn, a company that sells fair trade coffee, knew there was an opportunity for them to support Labour. “Jeremy is brilliant, he’s the complete opposite of George Osborne, but he’s determined to do the right thing by the environment and people in general,” said Chris Gatford, one of the co-founders of the company.
“By providing coffee to a growing community, we wanted to show them that Labour is a party who believe in their country, believe in the importance of their natural environment, and believe in supporting their communities. It’s also a nice, free thing for people to do while showing that they care.”
There are many small, individual actions you can do. For a walk around your local park, plant a tree. Make sure you give to a food bank in need.
The Power Of Many People
People’s movements are powerful because they are built up from the bottom up. Whenever we get together, however, small our numbers, we can do big things.
As impressive as it is when a group of 150 or so people is out protesting together, it is even more impressive when 10,000 people are out in the streets demonstrating, writing letters, and signing petitions. Even when everyone involved agrees, it is only possible when they have a common enemy. The people, not the politicians, are our leaders. There are so many things we can do together to build the power to fight back. Join an environmental group or start one, set up a community Facebook group to discuss issues or support campaigns.
We need to be organized, we need to be loud, and we need not give up.

Write your local paper
Write for your local paper. Together, we have the power to make real change happen. For every article you write or film you make, I will match it in kind.
Stop road transport
Stop using products that harm our environment. Don’t buy Colgate toothpaste, stop using toxic household cleaners and stop throwing away bottles and cans that could be recycled instead.
Make a point of telling your friends, family, and neighbors why you care about the environment. This will open their eyes and create a ripple effect of change across the country. If everyone who cares about the environment took one small action, we would change our planet and save the environment.
Talk to your MP
Stay connected on social media. Spread the word. Write a blog post about the issue, or write a letter to your local newspaper. Leave your social media profile private. Use Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram for positive stuff, not negative. Avoid Twitter for the most part.
