How To Save Money Without Overweening.
As life becomes more expensive every year, it becomes harder to save money. Sometimes you feel bad when you save too much. We do not want to think about money too much because it is difficult. We are already facing financial problems in every corner.
Want to go on vacation?
Move to another city?
Start a new hobby?
You will need money for those things.
One day I was watching a race bike. I like the idea of cycling a lot more than my running. I checked the bike and the gear needed. It would set me back for about $3000 on a good bike. I do not like cycling very much.
But that does not mean that we should stop doing new or exciting things because they are expensive. Instead, you can use the things you really want. Then save wisely with these tips.
Tips to Save Your First $1,000 (or more).
Look, we all know we need an emergency bag. And a good emergency fund is not enough to cover the cost for at least 6 months (or a year, if you want more protection).
But when you get into saving thinking.
"I'll save $10K in a few months ..."
You may be discouraged. Saving is a habit. And as with any custom, we can make it sticky by keeping it as simple as possible.
So start with a small, simple goal. If you do not have savings, aim to save $1K. Even if you are in debt, you can save thousands of dollars little by little. Once your finances start to improve, you can increase that amount.
Here are some simple, effective ways to save money without getting too cheap.
Create a concrete backup policy.
Do you see why I put a certain amount above? Because we can lose sight of our savings when we do not have a clear goal.
If you earn less, I encourage you to try to save more than a thousand. But again, it keeps it simple and stable.
It's easy to fail at saving if you don't have the energy, "why." Depending on your financial situation, your savings may be:
Create a savings account -This is ideal for people who are in debt or earning a living to pay. A $1K emergency wallet can fit perfectly. You can also check out this guide on how to get out of debt successfully.
Give yourself peace of mind - If you can save a high percentage of your income, you can focus on giving yourself peace of mind. So if you suddenly lose your job or have major expenses, you do not have to rely on debt to survive.
Identify your non-essentials and cut out the rest.
After food, shelter, and clothing - after all the essentials - what are the top 3 things you really need?
People talk about cutting lattes and so on. But if the latte every morning keeps you working properly during the day, it makes no sense to remove it.
Instead, cut down on the negative connotations that you do not really need or that will greatly improve your health. This means unsubscribing you do not need, membership you do not use, or buying the latest fashion you have seen on social media.
And avoid buying boredom. I have seen too many people scroll through the shopping apps because of boredom. That is the quickest way to kill your savings.
Stick to a 48-hour rule if you want to buy something.
Sometimes you buy something unexpectedly. That can always happen. But when that becomes a habit, you will not be able to save as much as you can.
Web stores, supermarkets, or any other retailer are specially designed to take your money very quickly.
So how do you prevent random purchases? Two solutions:
Delays any random purchase for 48 hours - This gives you time to think and see if you really need it.
Deposit your expenses in one account and save another - My savings account is different from the one I use for daily expenses. So if there is something I need to buy that costs more than a grocery bag, I should take interest on depositing money in my savings account and transfer it to my checking account.
If you become familiar with both of the above tips, you will often find yourself going strong, it should not be difficult. That will keep you from buying things that are worthless.
Keep it very easy.
A recent survey found that more than half of Americans could afford to pay $1,000 for an emergency.
That is not a good thing to be in — emotionally or financially. You need to save some money. So if you do not feel comfortable with the amount of money you have saved, add it.
But also remember that you do not want to over do it.
It's easy to read this article and get all the encouragement to save X value in X time and reduce all costs. But saving is like eating food. You do not want to be so desperate that you end up crashing a few weeks or months later.
The key to saving money at no cost is to make the process easier and, more importantly, more sustainable.
