Hair growth is one of the most common concerns of people around the globe. Both men and women show concern about issues related to hair growth and hair loss. People even stress about it in severe cases and spend a handsome amount of money to overcome it.
A lot of products have been introduced in cosmetology and the pharmaceutical market for the treatment of hair-related issues. And people often rely on them. However, some people do not have access to these products due to financial, geographical, or other problems. Often people do not want to use these chemically formulated products. But few people do know that there are natural remedies that can help their hair grow. One such natural remedy is rosemary.
What is Rosemary
Rosemary is a woody fragrant herb from the mint family. It is best known for its medicinal and healing properties and is often called a medicinal herb. It is widely used in the kitchen as a culinary, in making perfumes, as a medicinal herb, and now in skin and hair care products. It is now gaining popularity as a hair growth ingredient.
Rosemary for Hair Growth
Rosemary is claimed to regrow hair in balding spots. Its efficacy in growing hair is even compared to minoxidil (a prescription medicine for treating alopecia/hair loss). A study published by Panahi and colleagues (2015) suggested that rosemary essential oil is as effective in treating androgenetic alopecia as minoxidil 2%.
How to use Rosemary for Hair Growth
Rosemary can be used for hair growth either in rosemary essential oil or as a fresh herb from the garden or kitchen.
Rosemary Essential Oil
Essential oils are incredibly concentrated oils extracted from plants. Rosemary essential oil can be used to regrow hair. All you need is a bottle of rosemary essential oil from a reputable and authentic brand and carrier oil of your choice; I prefer to use coconut oil as a carrier oil. Mix a few drops of rosemary essential oil in a carrier oil and massage into your scalp for a few minutes. Remember never to use any essential oil undiluted on your scalp or skin. For best results, apply twice weekly.
Fresh Rosemary
All you need to do is take a few stems of fresh rosemary and water. Pour about two glasses of water into a pot and bring it to a boil. Add the fresh rosemary into the pot and cook for 10 minutes on low flame. Please turn off the love and let it sit for 20 minutes to cool. Pour it in a spray bottle and spray it on your scalp; no need to wash it out. Just let your hair dry. You can store it for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. Spray it on your scalp thrice a week for the best results.
Essential to Make it Work for You
The key to making any remedy work is consistency. To see results, you need to be consistent with it and make it a routine. Growing hair is not something that can happen overnight. It needs time to produce, so be patient and let the herb do its magic over time. This remedy can take up to 6 months to show visible results. Therefore be consistent for at least six months, and you will see a significant difference in the density of your hair.
