Obesity is now known as an epidemic in the health community. In fact, it soon became the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, even before smoking. Obesity also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure.

No matter what we believe, there is no magical way to lose weight. The body sheds extra s *** when it needs more calories to work through the demands placed on you on a given day than the calories you feed. It is so simple. You can eat food contained less calories. Exercise is important when trying to lose weight for a number of reasons: First, when you start eating less, your metabolism slows down somewhat. Exercise can help bring your metabolism back to an efficient level. Second, as mentioned, exercise burns more calories, so you can lose weight faster and be motivated in your endeavors. Third, exercise actually releases endorphins, chemicals that boost your mood. Exercise does not mean spending hours in the gym or working out through tiring workouts. In fact, if you want to stick to it for a long time, exercise should be something you enjoy. Start by increasing your activity level overall. Climb the stairs whenever you can. If you have a treadmill, you can also use it for weight loss. When you go shopping, park next to the mall door. Go for a walk in your favorite park or neighborhood and bring a dog or friend for company. You must enjoy your exercise. Create competition between your friends or family and expect the winner to exercise something special (not food related!)
