In ancient times when the Prophet Muhammad united the followers of Islam they became one economic and political group of people who associated their lives with their nation. Buying, selling, earning money was mostly done with the idea that the nation should prosper and rule. As Islam was so important it seemed to surpass any consideration of the needs of other organizations. Islam became the new standard for economic activity. As the borders of the Islamic world grow, so does its economic power. Eventually it became the most powerful organization on Earth.
In modern times Muslim countries live in extreme poverty. While there are plenty of rich packages available, many are having a hard time feeding their children or building the necessary infrastructure improvements. Why is this so? The reasons lie in the idea of nationalism higher than in Islam. In the past of Islam there was no sense of the world and the money of the world. Instead each city was considered a small country that lived and worked in harmony with the Islamic world. At that time the concept was flexible and led to many economic changes. The Christian world has been embroiled in controversy and warfare, furthering the economic downturn in the local economy. Therefore, they could not compete with Muslims effectively. The Muslims had a central authority that made great strides in reducing internal strife. So, when they do that they can do it the same way.
Today the situation has changed. Wealthier European nations have come together in terms of economic agreements and military cooperation. The United Nations, the European Union and the FTAA are all examples of this concerted effort. This spirit of cooperation diminishes any internal structures they have as a result of using one of these large organizations to mediate. The Muslim world, in its disappointment, has been reduced to internal strife and "contempt" that applies to each other.
The only way to undo the damage of Islam is to change our whole way of looking at business. The principles of Islamic justice, hard work and collective effort need to emerge. The concept of nationalism needs to be seen as outdated and the concept of unity “Ummah (community) should take its place. Working together people can use their unused resources about natural resources and resources to develop something that will make them better for all. Countries like Saudi Arabia, who wish to find a more secure food source, can invest in those countries with fertile land but less wealth. International trade restrictions can be reduced to ensure the smooth flow of goods and services. Leadership can be held accountable for the increase in the performance of not only their nation but also their neighbors.
In fact the promotion of a single Muslim currency and a government body is necessary if any meaningful transformation is to take place. The formal structure of government will be very similar to that found under the European Union but with greater Islamic development. The individual and national agenda will not be given full weight and economic development will not be subject to corruption. Internal control needs to be developed that will help solve some of the most pressing problems in the Islamic world.
