How to protect your computer

It is an excellent idea to think of your PC as an office.  It arranges files, programs, images together.  We can compare this to the files, machines, and decorations of an actual office.  The operating system is the boss.  With this spirit in mind, think of an office you visited that was slow and inefficient.  There were many different reasons for disability.  It is the same with computers.  There can be many reasons that slow down your computer.  Perhaps the most overlooked is a breakup.

  Disk Cleanup

An office can keep a lot of unnecessary files, machines, and decorations together.  It is the same with your computer.  One of the best ways to keep this clutter under control is to demonstrate cleaning utility periodically.  In Windows, this cleaning utility will be called "Disk Cleanup."  It removes various unnecessary files depending on the options you choose.

To perform a disk cleanup on Windows XP, you should click "My Computer" under the Start menu. Next, Right-click on your "C drive" or "Hard disk" and choose Properties. Next, click "Disk Cleanup" and follow the prompts.  When selecting files for cleaning or deleting, Windows will give you information to help you decide.  While viewing the file types, you will click on the file type name and read the description below in the description field.  This will let you know whether files can be safely deleted.  To select a filegroup, look at the box next to the group name.  When finished, select the "OK" press.

Now, it will take very little time to perform disk cleanup, i.e., it takes just a few minutes, and it can save more time in the end by making your smartphone faster.  However, a disk cleanup needs to be run only once in a great time from time to time.  One way to make this run from time to time is to make it a scheduled task.  This allows your computer to run automatically with the interval and time of day you set.  Nevertheless, you can always run it periodically without performing a set task.

  Add or Remove Programs

The information above helps you get rid of some unnecessary files, but you may need to clean some unnecessary programs as well.  This can be done using the "Add or Remove Programs" utility in Windows.  It is located in the control panel and lists all your currently installed programs and the option to uninstall them.  It is an excellent idea to browse the programs one by one through add or remove to ensure that all the programs are useful to you.

If there are programs listed that are no longer used, you can click on the Uninstall button if you want to highlight the program.  Windows will start the process of uninstalling the program.  In most cases, to uninstall a program, it is necessary to restart your computer.  This will temporarily dump the files and files placed.

Add or remove program utility is very useful, but not all programs are listed on the front.  Programs already installed on your computer and Windows operating system can also be uninstalled.  For example, Outlook Express is the default e-mail program that comes with the Windows XP operating system.  If you do not use this e-mail program, then you can uninstall it.  Click "Add or Remove Windows Components" to add or remove the program utility and follow the instructions.

  Defragment

Many offices have many files and programs that are valuable and cannot be thrown away. In addition, they may contain files that are not even used but still have to be maintained for some reason.  Although these files must remain in the office, they need to be organized.  This is why we create file folders that contain a group of related files.  We store them in cabinets that are arranged alphabetically.

When saved to a computer, files are kept on a hard drive.  However, they are kept according to the time when they survived.  So, if we open a word document and save the file as "file A" and open another document and save it as "file B," then we have "file B" placed next to it  Is "File A."  This is fine, but if you open "File A" later and save it again, additional information is saved next to "File B."

Whenever those files are broken in this way, it is called a fragmented file.  This means that the computer must search the first part of the file and then search the second part of the file to open that one-word document.  This can make your computer slow.  However, Windows has created a utility to rearrange files so that they are no longer fragmented but sit next to each other.

You can run Disk Defragmenter by selecting "All Programs" under the Start button.  Next, choose "Accessories" and "System Tools," and you will see "Disk Defragmenter."  However, it is also an alternative way to select the previously mentioned disk cleanup.  Before starting Defragmenter, you can analyze your hard drive to see if Windows recommends a defragmenter.  This will inform you whether or not you should defragment at this time.

If you need to defragment your computer, just hit the defragment button.  Depending on the speed of your computer and the amount of defragmented files, it may take some time for your computer to complete this task.  This may take about 15–30 minutes or longer.  However, you can still use the computer while the disk defragmenter is working.
