How to Prevent Ulcers?- Symptoms, Diet, Precautions

When the hydrochloric acid and pepsin, which are secreted in the stomach for digesting food, are secreted in excess for some reason, the mucous membrane in the wall of the stomach and small intestine becomes inflamed and destroyed. This is called 'Gastritis'. If this is neglected, it can eventually turn into a gastric ulcer.

Ulcers in the esophagus, stomach and upper small intestine that help food move from the throat to the stomach are commonly called 'Peptic Ulcer'. This means that the acids secreted in the stomach destroy the protective lining of the esophagus. This peptic ulcer can cause bleeding inside the body. There are two types of peptic ulcer: gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the upper small intestine.

Ulcers are more likely to occur if the mucosa is too thin or if we carry too much stomach acid. The cause of this is Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium known as H. pylori, which affects many of us. This H. pylori can be spread from person to person. This bacteria can be spread by kissing, and by contaminated food and water.

Bad eating habits:

Eating too much salty, sour, spiced food, fried food; Drinking alcohol, smoking, drinking too much soft drinks, coffee, tea drinks; Frequent consumption of pain relievers such as steroid pills, aspirin, ibuprofen etc. without doctor's advice; Bad eating habits such as eating too late, eating too hot, and starving yourself can lead to gastric ulcer.

Factors like stress, excitement at work, anger, lack of sleep also increase acid secretion and trigger gastric ulcer. People who skip meals every day and those who regularly skip breakfast are more likely to develop ulcers.

Irritation in the chest area. This is often followed by sour belching. Generally, if stomach pain worsens after eating, it is gastric ulcer. If the pain subsides after eating, it is a duodenal ulcer. Apart from these, nausea and vomiting are likely to occur.

If gastric ulcer persists, it is likely to turn into cancer, so early endoscopy and biopsy are recommended. This is treated with antacids, H-2 receptor antagonists including ranitidine, and proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole, lansoprazole, and pantoprazole.

Boiled food can be taken a lot, it is better to avoid fast food. Vegetables like spinach, banana stem, cabbage will help. Painkillers, steroid pills for asthma, allergy, etc. should not be taken unnecessarily or excessively.

First of all, if you have an ulcer, you should not self-medicate. Just show the doctors what kind of ulcer it is, h. pylori can be tested and drugs can be given.

Doctors may prescribe amoxicillin and clarithromycin, along with proton pump inhibitor tablets such as omeprazole. Doctors may prescribe metronidazole instead of amoxicillin if you have a penicillin allergy. Any medicine should be taken for 10-15 days.

There are millions of bacteria in our gut, of which H. pylori is the type that causes disease. Others will do just fine. Bacteria that help our body health are called probiotics.

It is present in our food, it is abundant in dairy products like yogurt, butter, cheese. Eggs and fish can also be eaten. Mint and coconut milk also help. Things to avoid include alcohol, smoking, high-fat foods, and people with ulcers should avoid soda and soft drinks.
