I think a lot of people don’t recognize themselves in other people. Sadly, you got to find something in common with the other person if you want to be better. The more you talk to people and have more life experience, the more you better understand that they too are suffering from one thing or another... If you didn’t hear before, this love for toxic others outweighs that of poisonous friends. The difference between a toxic individual and a toxic friend is that they are concerned with what we think they put in our mouth rather than what we put in ours. Really? If the people I mentioned to you might become toxic friends, they aren’t toxic yet. Also, if they were so unique, how come I decided to question them???? LOL. But, if someone would have to doubt, be suspicious about someone in their life, then chances are they have a toxic character.
Whatever choices we make, there are those times when we fall in love with the bit of shit, even if you do so in your day to day life. You can find those small things in different ways. You might fall in love with the bit of shit through social media or with a few friends or your social circle. Something about what you like, your personality, hobbies, preferences, or even your past relationships. These reasons for falling in love with the bit of shit are why we love ourselves. We love those things because we think they are attractive, so we were attracted to something we weren’t looking for. Some reasons why we fall in love with the bit of shit, so I’m sure I’ll always fall in love with them.
I can’t deny that I fell in love with my small shit because I didn’t see it as such back then. I had these big thoughts because I needed someone to show me and encourage me to do more. I needed someone to make it to my doorsteps and climb in to pull me out. Those types of love from others were complex for me to develop on my own, but they worked. Those people stepped in and took care of me so that I wouldn’t fall into any bad habits.
The most important thing about living in the 21st century is to know that most of us would do better running away from toxic people instead of running away from that toxic person. They’re there to please us, and so far, I can tell you, they have accomplished exactly that. Except, when they check out of their lives, they leave a big stain on our social media. A part of any human being is attracted to destructive hobbies and outdated habits and quirks. The sad part is that the more people we spend time with within a toxic relationship, the bigger the stain. Being in a toxic relationship has messed me up, but I think we’ve all had those moments. Sometimes we don’t realize the effect it has on our social lives and our financial footing. The blame here should be on the person we’re living with and their lack of self-control—the one we let into our lives, no matter what.
Another thing about toxic relationships is that people can mask their true personalities. They lie about something and continue to lie. Have you read books about people in dysfunctional relationships, like The Whiskey in the Water? I have, and it’s perfect. It opened my eyes to how toxic it is and how harmful the enablers become. They always set up the relationship for failure and then forget to hold them accountable. We’re so forgiving because there’s no other option. People force us into situations that don’t work out for the best. Since toxic relationships are often unhealthy, that’s why we feel as though people should care less about our feelings. Yes, we may need a friend or family member we trust, but the relationship shouldn’t be the majority of who we are. And, if a toxic relationship is sitting on top of you that is not good, you should avoid that.
