How to prevent cracked heels in winter season

How to Avoid Dry, Split Heels During the Winter

Remember your feet when you're dressing warmly and protecting yourself from the cold in the winter by layering on extra layers of clothing, coats, and scarves! Your skin and feet may lose moisture due to the dry winter air, which increases the likelihood of dead skin around your heels hardening and cracking. Continue reading to find out how to shield your feet this winter against cracked heels.

Even though they can happen at any time of year, cracked heels are a frequent wintertime condition. Wintertime brings low humidity, cold, and dry air that dries out your skin. It's common knowledge to remember to stay warm, but it can be simple to overlook taking care of your feet! Your feet are especially prone to dryness and cracking during the winter months since they are naturally drier than other parts of your body.

The chilly air and intense heat from interior heaters can dry out your feet, causing painful splits and skin splitting if you already have a buildup of dead skin and callus on your heels.

Reasons
Cracked heels can result from seasonal dry skin, but there are additional things to take into account, such as:

regular use of hot baths
inappropriate footwear
Standing for extended periods of time
Using harsh soaps that deplete your skin's natural oils that shield it
Strolling around in my underwear
Dry skin and cracked heels can also result from a number of medical disorders, including diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, psoriasis, fungal infections, obesity, and pregnancy. Consult your physician prior to beginning therapy if you have an underlying medical problem.

Cracks may occasionally cause infection or make walking uncomfortable. Get in touch with your doctor if you have trouble putting weight on your feet or if you suspect an infection.

EXPOLIATE
Use a pumice stone or foot file to gently exfoliate your feet after soaking them to get rid of dead skin and soften calluses. Overly thick calluses may lose their elasticity and suppleness, which can lead to cracks when you move or when friction builds up.

Every few weeks, make sure to thoroughly wash and rinse any pumice stone you use to get rid of bacteria and dead skin.
