How to predict your future heart problem by simple tests

Heart problems are common after certain age. Well known heart problem is a coronary artery disease or in simple term 'Heart attack'.

Lifestyle plays an important role in this condition. Excessive body weight, Smoking and alcohol intake are the commonest risk factors.

In this article, we will discuss some simple measures to predict future heart attack risk and find the solution for the same.

Test 1 - Body Mass Index 

BMI = Body weight in kg divided by Height in Meter squared.

Example:

Person weight is 88 kg and Height is about 160 cm.

First, you need to convert height in cm to height in meter. For that, simply add a dot (.) between first value and second value.

In above case, 160 cm will be 1.60 m 

So, by applying formula

BMI = 88 kg / 1.60 m x 1.60 m

BMI = 88 / 2.56

BMI = 34

Person BMI is 34. Now, we can check this value in BMI table to find out the body type.

BMI NORMS

 Less than 18.9  Lean
 Between 18.9 - 25.9  Normal
 Between 25.9 - 29.9  Overweight
 Above 30  Obese

So, the above-mentioned person has obesity. That means, increased fat content in the body and he is in risk for heart attack. 

Test 2 - Waist circumference

Just take your inch tape in your hand. Wrap around your belly. Keep your body relaxed. Measure the circumference of your waist in cm.

Normal values 

 Less than 92 cm for males.

 Less than 82 cm for females.

If you have circumference value above the normal, then you are on the risk of getting heart attack.

Test 3 - Waist Hip ratio 

 Hope you remember your waist circumference.

 Now, just wrap that inch tape around your bum and in front of your body, measure the value in cm.waist hip measurement

Now use the following formula to find out this ratio:

WHR = Waist circumference divided by Hip circumstance

Normal ratio should be 

Less than 0.85 for female and 

Less than 0.95 for males.

If your waist hip ratio is above the normal value, then you're on the road to heart attack.

Ok. Now come to the solution. If you found that you are in risk, You may get question "Is it preventable? ". Yes, you can prevent your heart problem by simple lifestyle modifications.

1. Diet program 

 You can follow low fat diet, low-carb diet, low calorie diet or intermittent fasting. 

2. Regular physical activity

You should participate in breath catching activities such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling or swimming for at least 150 min per week. So, daily 30 min for 5 days and rest for 2 days.

3. Avoid unhealthy foods 

Always avoid unhealthy foods such as packed food, fast food which contains more amount of trans fat and saturated fat those are not good for health.

 You take good fat from fish, red meat, seafoods.

4. Avoid smoking 

Smoking harder your blood pipes and increase your risk for heart attack as well as stroke.

5. Avoid drinking

Occasional intake of alcohol is not bad. But, excessive intake can damage your liver and kidney. Which affects your blood purification and fat digestion.
