Fundamental Cricket Rules
Two teams, each with eleven players, compete in cricket. In junior sports, eight-player teams are occasionally seen.
Every team will alternate between batting and fielding/bowling for the duration of at least one innings in a game.
A bowler from the fielding team will bowl the ball to the batsman, who will attempt to hit it with their bat.
The fielding group attempts to remove the batters by
using the ball to strike the wickets when bowling
completing a batsman's stroke on full
hitting the wickets before the batsmen can get to the other end of the pitch, or hitting the batsman's leg in front of the wicket (LBW).
Batters want to score as many runs as they can.
Exercise 1: Batting: Technique and hand-eye coordination.
As a child, the legendary Don Bradman would perform this exercise every day, and it seemed to be beneficial for him.
Place yourself approximately 4 meters away from a concrete wall and whack a tennis ball on it. Hit it once more after the ball rebounds.
The bat was raised in preparation to hit the ball when striking face-side against the wall with feet shoulder-width apart. Maintain an upward stance with your front elbow and strike the ball straight through so that it bounces once before colliding with the wall.
You may also compete with your pals to see who can hit the ball the highest by trying to hit it as many times as you can before losing control.
