Hello everyone, how are you all, so today I will talk about that thing which is also natural and not every person has this aspect which is Shyness. Many people hesitate to speak in front of others, or in public or on stage because people get shy. Many people suffer from shyness and the shyness is mild to extreme. There are certain circumstances that trigger your shyness. Now Today I will discuss shyness
1. Understanding your shyness
Firstly we have to understand why we are feeling shy. We have to know the reason of our shyness. There are four possibilities
· You have a weak self-image: when we judge ourselves, it creates negativity on our mind. It’s really tough to stop listening to it but at the end of the day you can say it, and it’s your voice, and you can tell it what to say
· You have issues in believing the compliments given to you: Whether you think you look good someone did and that’s why they say you that. You wouldn’t call them a liar. Lift your chin and say thank you. Don’t try to tell the person that he or she is wrong to complement you
· You are preoccupied in how you come off: This happens when we focus too much on ourselves because we spend all day monitoring our actions and also take care that we don’t mess up, and we assume that others also do the same thing
· You are labelled as shy by others: When we are young people say that this boy or girl is really shy. When people say these, it will automatically store in our mind, and we take it as a label. To label someone like this is really bad
2. You have to accept your shyness
Just see yourself in mirror and say yourself that I am shy, and I am happy with it. Say again, and again, it will not get impact on me.
3. Figure out your triggers
You yourself know that when you become shy and there are some situations which make you shy and every time it happens it triggers you, and sometimes you feel embarrassed. So you have to work on your triggers, your weak points and then everything is fine.
·
4. Make a list of situations that make you feel anxious,
observe yourself and find out when you feel less anxious and when you feel more anxious. When you arrange things in real terms, it feels like that you have some work to do, and then you can tackle it successfully. If you are talking to people in front, it will trigger you, but you have to fight with it
5. Conquer the list
When you have to deal with the situations, then deal with them one by one and categorized them in easy or difficult situations. Easy situations will help in building more confidence, and then you are confident to tackle the difficult situations. You need not have to worry if you have to go reverse in the list. Do the things at your own pace and take it easy
1. Use this shyness as a cue
If there is something which is frightening you from inside, then observe that fear and face it and solve it out. It’s like computer programming, when a programmed gets a certain type interrupt it behaves in the same way how we have programmed it to handle interrupts. Similarly, our mind will be programmed too since childhood. We often react automatically, reacting in a way which come naturally to us. We can change this response by reprogramming your mind. Some ways it could be done by
· Questioning yourself and checking the validity of your reason, for example, it’s essential to practice speaking in public to really overcome the problem of shyness. When you feel shyness, you probably leave for a quiet place because this has been your default reaction for so long. But this time if you feel shy do the opposite thing, talk to people. Yes, you feel uncomfortable, but these emotions push yourself and motivate you harder. After trying this for several times, you will realize that these negative feeling and emotions were your best friend because they motivate you to push yourself even harder.
2. Place your attention on others,
people focus on themselves. Don't do it and distract your mind and see others what they are doing.
·
3. Visualize Success
Just close your eyes for a moment and visualize yourself in your mind’s eye that you are really confident person. It’s silly, but athletes also do it to visualize their success, and they also get confidence with this. If they can do it so why not we?
· Involve all your senses to feel that it is a real situation think about being happy and comfortable, what do you sound like? What are you doing? That way when the time comes, you will be prepared
4. Practice good posture
When you are standing confidently then you are internally motivated and audience also get impressed by you.
· Research says that good posture makes us feel authoritative, confident, and it also reduces stress
5. Practice speaking clearly to yourself
If you practice speaking clearly with yourself before giving the final shot you don't need to face the embarrassment in future and by practice you also get confidence to talk to large audience without getting shy and getting confused
· Record yourself pretending to have conversation. It’s sound ridiculous. Am I right? But you notice patterns when you drop off or where you are going wrong, or when you are speaking loudly and slowly. You need to just practice and practice to make habits
6. Don’t compare yourself to others
There is no need to compare yourself with anyone because every one is a unique person and every person is different in his /her own way. You just have to say to yourself you can do much better, and you are different
· If you have that kind of friends and family who is extrovert and super confident, ask them about some topic.
