How to Move Utilities Easily to New Location with 7 Steps

Soon to move? Transferring those utilities shouldn't be overlooked! Even though it's not enjoyable, it's unquestionably one of the most crucial tasks. Who would want to spend their first night (or week) in a new house without hot water, electricity, or internet? Not us. These factors make it imperative that you get in touch with your utility service providers in advance of the relocation to arrange a transfer or installation date. Get prepared

First things first: get acquainted with all of your present utility service providers before you move. Cable and internet, water and sewer, gas, electricity, satellite, security system, garbage collection, and phone are examples of utilities. Write down any new contact information if you intend to switch providers when you relocate. Whatever you do, make sure to settle any past-due payments before moving. Ask the utility companies if you are currently owed any money when you phone them. If so, make sure to settle them before closing day and/or relocation because they can damage your credit score and prevent the sale of your house. Clearing off debts also equates to a new beginning in your new house and a clean slate.

Verify again that all utility services are functioning as intended

It doesn't hurt to confirm that all of your stop/start dates are valid before using them. We advise phoning both your current and new utility service providers to check stop/start dates before moving into your new house. By doing this, you can avoid moving into a cold, gloomy home that isn't ready for occupants. In addition, once you leave your old house, you won't be responsible for any utility costs.
