How To Minimise Shopping Cart Abandonment

Leaving the shopping cart is the process by which a customer adds goods to their shopping cart with the intention of making a purchase, the purchase should never be finalized  you may lose revenue if you run an e-commerce store. Some online stores look at discount statistics of up to 68%, with more than three-quarters of customers not finalizing payment because they have products in their carts. This article is going to look at how you can reduce the impact of leaving the shopping cart on your sales.

As with all problems, we need to know the cause of the problem before dealing with it. Talking to online customers and store owners about the many reasons why people give up their carts, we pinned what we think are the top ten reasons for people to finalize purchases,  we are going to give you some guidelines. Here's how to avoid everything.

1. Shipping costs are very high and are not shown until checkout: Sticker shock does not only occur on products, it is also a problem with shipping costs to your store. Especially if you sell goods at a low price. The best way to limit this is to make sure your customer is aware of the delivery cost as soon as possible. Make sure your shopping cart page has a good estimate of the final shipping price and, if possible, place the estimated shipping price on your product pages.

2. Changed thinking and abandoned cart contents: If your customers really change their mind and decide not to buy, you can do little about them. But you can try and reduce the chances that they will become distracted. Removing all unnecessary links from the checkout process will prevent the customer from clicking away from the checkout process. This may include removing site navigation during the process.

3. Comparison Shopping or Browsing: The popularity of shopping comparison sites is growing, and there are really only two ways to deal with it. First, underestimate all your competitors and make sure you look like one of the cheapest on comparison sites. Unfortunately this is not always possible  the only solution is to be honest explaining why your products are supported at a higher price, yet more and more sites are starting to include price comparisons with their competitors on their sites, there is nothing to hide if you show your customer that they have the opportunity to trust you and buy from you.

4. Total cost of goods is very high: Make sure your customers know the value of the products in their shopping carts while browsing. Placing a simple running total in the upper right of your store will allow customers to be aware of price increases and not receive a sticker shock when they click the 'What's in my cart' button.

5. Saving items for later shopping: Make sure your customer can do this easily, more current shopping cart software allows you to save their cart and come back later to check out.

6. Checkout process is too long: Make sure your checkout process is as short as possible and do not ask your customer for unnecessary information. Do not write down their mailing address multiple times for shipping and billing if they are identical. As mentioned above, make sure there are no interruptions in the checkout process.

7. Out of stock products at checkout: Be sure to let customers know as soon as possible whether your products are in stock or out of stock, such as shipping costs. The best places to show this are in your product lists and product pages.

8. Poor site navigation and longer download time: There is nothing more annoying than a slow loading site, make sure you work with your host to deliver a fast loading page to your customer, optimize the shopping cart software code and deliver pages faster.

9. Lack of adequate product or contact information: Information = guarantee, the more information on your site about your company and your product, the more reassurance the customer will get the product they want they will order the product they want. Make sure your product description contains as much information as possible and that you include a page about your company, including contact information. It is always a good idea to have a phone number, as most online shoppers will never call you, but a large number will assure you that they can contact you on the phone if anything goes wrong.

10. The site is vague at the time of delivery: Like the point above, make sure you have all the information about the delivery time and make it easily available at all times so that customers can get their real fingers at the age when they have all the information they need. -World products as fast as possible.
