How to make your own information product

In a previous article, we told you why information products are the best products to sell online. Information production can be a digital book (called an e-book), a digital report or white paper, a piece of software, audio or video files, a website, an Eugene (electronic magazine) or a newspaper.

Any product that has an informational, teaching or educational nature is considered an information product.

If you missed last week's column, you want to make your birdcage online as long as you can read first, so you're fully aware of what we're going to discuss this week, how to build your own information product.

As explained in detail in the previous chapter, here are some reasons why information for sale online may be the best product:

* It is made quickly and is fast to market

* Stock has no inventory

* Startup costs are low

* You can automate the sales and distribution process

* No shipping and maintenance fees

One good thing about information products is that you do not need a product designer or manufacturing plant to take the goods out. You do not have to spend months and months developing the product.

If you have a computer and a word processing program, you have everything you need to create the best-selling information product in the shortest amount of time.

Great, you say, but I'm not a writer. How can I enter the information business? The good news is, you do not have to be a great writer to create a great information product. If you do not have the ability to build a product yourself, there are many ways you can learn about the success of a product.

Co-author with author

In my opinion, it is much harder to gain expert knowledge than great writing skills. If you are an expert in the subject of paying people to know, you need a good writer to take your expert knowledge and put it in a marketable form.

I know a lot of subject matter experts who can’t write their names in the snow and a lot of amazing writers who don’t have the specialized knowledge needed to create an information product that sells. If such a co-author could be set up, the co-author could be a match made in heaven. Co-author means you both get a share of the credit and revenue for creating the product.

If you are an expert in a subject but not an author, find a co-author with you for the project. Conversely, if you are a writer with no specific knowledge, find a subject matter expert and partner with them to design the product.

Hire a ghostwriter

Ghostwriter writes e-books for you anonymously, and the writing credits go entirely to you. You provide expertise and guidance, and the ghostwriter puts it in a readable format. You can hire ghostwriters on an hourly basis or for a flat fee, depending on the scope of the project.

It's not a shame to use a ghostwriter to put your thoughts on digital paper. You really don’t think all of those pro athletes and Hollywood actresses can write 300 pages of books now, do they?

Publish a directory

Have you not thought about the topic you deserve to write about? Try compiling the directory. A directory is nothing more than a unique list of information that you can target a specific segment of people who buy the market. For example, My Company publishes the Dropship and Wholesale Industry Directory, which lists company names, addresses, phone numbers, and website addresses. I have someone who researches the industry, compiles their findings in directory format, packs it neatly, and sells it online for  $27.

Sign in with affiliate programs and sell their information products

There are thousands of companies selling information products and most of them have affiliate programs that you can sign up for. Becoming an affiliate means you become a reseller of company products. You promote the product, you sell, the company delivers the product and you get commission.

The key to building a successful information product is this: the value of the information must be much higher than the price of the eBook. If you charge $27 for your product, he or she will pay the buyer several times the perceived value.

I asked data production expert Jim Edwards, co-author of "How to Write and Publish Your Own E-book in a Little 7 Days" for advice on how to create a killer information product.

Here are the top 5 gym tips:

* It's niche - Make sure you are targeting a highly defined niche audience ... Do not try to sell to everyone. You can make a lot more money by showing life insurance agents how you can find more customers to buy a $250,000 policy than trying to sell a product on regular salesmanship improvements.

* Overcome their pain - Make sure your information product solves the traumatic problem, and your target audience members will do anything to solve it. No matter how severe the pain, they are willing to pay more to get rid of it.

* Give them a taste - Taste what you offer in your information product by giving them a sample. Just as wholesale clubs tell you to buy Tatar-tats in 50-pound bags, you can get people to buy your information by reading the first chapter or listening to the first few minutes of the audio. ,

* Entertain them - people hate being bored. Enhance the power of your product by adding humor, drama and other entertaining elements. This will not only help satisfied customers in future sales, it will also reduce your returns and increase word of mouth advertising.

* Keep it forever - make no mistake about making a product that is nostalgic or a fleeting market hit. Create information-products that can be updated with very little effort. It allows you to make a product once and keep selling for years...
