Dieting often tends to be close to the thought of future failure. Too many people have tried and failed so many diet plans in the past that they try the next new diet with full belief that they will fail in this effort again. Of course, they will.
Henry Ford once said that if you think you can or think you cannot, you will always be right.
If you think you are going to fail at this attempt, then you are putting yourself at risk before you even began your journey. Think about that before you start because only a true sadistic can find the joy of carrying on this vicious cycle without stopping to ask yourself why no other food works for you. Henry Ford also said that failure is only the first and foremost opportunity. In case you are wondering, I would say his words are deep. Seriously, though, if you do not examine the reasons for your failure then you will be sacrificing yourself over and over again and if you are already planning to fail then why would you even be trying in the first place?
You are the only person who can control your need for food. Only you can pay heed and beware when you eat for emotional fulfillment or when you eat on demand. You and yourself can get yourself out of your comfort zone and on your feet. Only you can take responsibility for the situation you place yourself in. Butt even in these cases, if you try to go on diet after a meal and fail repeatedly you should sometimes realize that it is probably not the diet that isn't working.
We must all take responsibility for our own successes and failures in life. Same goes for dieting. There are far better things in the world than someone noticing and appreciating your efforts. If you are overweight, sadly it may take longer for people to recognize your weight loss journey. Many people give up just because no one noticed their efforts, and that is a pity. Give your eating habits a chance to work before you decide it is a failure or not, and you may be amazed at the success this can bring at your doorstep.
The fact is that only very few people actually hold themselves accountable for their diet and weight loss goals. This means mist of them give up without really even bothering to try. If you have a problem with being accountable for your eating habits, perhaps you can do better if you have a partner along this journey of yours. This helps you not only helps in setting goals, but also in overcoming challenges along the way. A colleague can also benefit from the partnership as he/she will be challenged and feel the need to do better than when she was on this weight loss journey by herself.
You should hold yourself accountable for your stated dietary goals and weight loss in order to achieve any lasting results. If you have not been successful in dieting in the past, then it is probably time to bring some level of accountability to the picture and make it happen.
