While you can't make someone love you, there are many things you can do to be a better friend or a more genuine person, which will attract people to you. Practice self-assurance and seek chances to assist others. You should say less and listen more. Learn to treat yourself with kindness so that you may treat others with kindness as well. Finally, being a nice person is the most effective approach to forming strong bonds with others.
1) Make use of the name of a person:
Let's face it: we're all colossal narcissists who adore the sound of our own names. Make a habit of learning and using names. When speaking with someone, always mention their name. This tried-and-true method is a classic from Dale Carnegie's famous book How to Win Friends and Influence People.
2) Smile — From the Heart!
Despite the fact that we live in a digital age when technology is progressively replacing human connection, we are still social beings in our hearts. We utilize social connection as a tool for feedback as humans, and we make many conscious and subconscious decisions depending on how others interact with and respond to us.
When someone gives you a big, genuine smile, it rubs off on the people around you. There have been several studies that indicate how mood, whether positive or bad, spreads among people. Someone will appreciate you if your pleasant attitude makes someone else's day better.
3) Pay attention (Not Just With Your Ears)
It's fairly self-evident that if you listen to them, they'll like you more. This begins with ignoring your Twitter account while out to dinner with pals, but it quickly escalates. Body language (turning your body to face someone and imitating his or her stance), eye contact (a lot of it), and vocal affirmation (more on this later) are always to demonstrate you're paying attention.
4) Ask questions:
Raising questions about other people's lives, hobbies, and passions is a definite way to earn brownie points in their friendship books.
People are egotistical, and they like talking about themselves. If you ask questions and encourage others to talk about themselves, they'll believe you're the coolest person in the room. Even if your talk didn't truly provide the other person a reason to appreciate you, he or she would unconsciously think better of you for satisfying his or her ego.
5) Don't Tell Them What To Do (Even If You're In Charge):
No one enjoys being told what to do. Make requests rather than telling others what to do, even if you're paying them. Say "Can you send me the email?" instead of "Send me the email." Before and after making requests, say "please" and "thank you" to lend a human touch.
6) Use and Recognize Body Language:
Speaking isn't the only technique to get a message through. When it comes to expressing and understanding emotions, body language is crucial. Use posture, body movement, hand gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, and paralanguage to communicate effectively, engagingly, and clearly (tone, pitch, pauses, emphasis, etc.). Make good use of eye contact. People may become uneasy if they overdo it. You can periodically interrupt eye contact by looking to the side for a few seconds. However, make sure you maintain eye contact for the majority of the chat.
7) Ask Advice:
People enjoy providing advice. Request counsel or an opinion about a problem you're having or a topic you're interested in (but avoid controversial topics). And if you genuinely value someone's advice, take it, put it to use, and let them know how it went. Don't forget to thank them. Determine their views, values, and style of thinking when they talk. They may even discuss their tales or provide hints about their likes. This allows people to open up, which leads me to my next point.
8) Believe in yourself and allow others to come to know the true you:
Those are attracted to people who are confident in their own skin, and pretending to be someone else may lead others to feel you are merely seeking approval or attention. Recognize your own talents and be loyal to who you want to be, no matter what scenario you're in. Try some of these confidence-boosting tactics if you're feeling worried.
9) Focus on being present with the people around you:
Staying in the current moment might help you connect with people. It's not always simple, but if you can perfect this talent, the people around you will feel more recognized and valued. Others may feel inferior if you're continually looking for the next fantastic thing to happen. When you're chatting to someone, try to be aware of your surroundings and limit distractions, such as using your telephone.
10) Find a Point of Contact:
Every time you open your lips, you have the possibility to discover shared interests or ideals. It's difficult to have a close friendship with someone if you don't have much in common with them. When you respond, hint at what you value, what you enjoy, what assumptions you've made, where you want the discussion to continue, or open up new options by asking questions. If you can't discover anything in common, go back to the fourth point and become interested in them.
