“Life is good, not because of what we see or do. ...”
When you meet new people for the first time, do you tend to like most of the people you meet? Or do you find yourself constantly glancing over your shoulder at teenagers, unless they finally prove themselves worthwhile in the long run?
You probably never thought about this before. And you may wonder if it really matters. Does it really matter if you love a lot of people when you first meet them, or if you decide to love them later, after you get to know them better?
“What I enjoy most is communicating with others. ...”
Your attitude toward the young people you meet will greatly affect the number of friends you make, as well as the social life you enjoy. Why? Because the attitude you have when you first meet someone will affect how you treat those people, as well as how you treat them. If you have an attitude of love for someone you have just met, you will feel good about yourself and want to get to know you better. They will likely sense your love for them, and they will be more inclined to judge kindly and constructively. If you like the more people you meet, you will have the largest group of people in your area of friendship. If you truly love other people, they will be more inclined to love you. If you do not like others:
On the other hand, if you do not like people when you meet them, they will feel uncomfortable around you and will want to avoid you. They may see that you do not like them. They may even decide not to like it at all. Everyone you don't like will be automatically excluded from your group of potential friends. If you do not like most of the people you meet, your friendship pool is too small.
Friendship Secrets:
If there is one secret to making friends, it is easy, and here it is:
Like the Other People! If you do not like almost everyone you meet, how many friends do you think you would have with this attitude?
Very few of us want to get close to someone when we feel that he does not love us. If you are accustomed to working with a long list of reasons for rejecting others, you will assume that some people decide to reject you. If you tend to dislike other people because you want their mistakes, you will not believe that others can really love you. When you reject other people for trivial reasons, you will also think that others will reject you for trivial reasons. This negative attitude will make you more suspicious when you meet other people, as you will be expecting to be rejected by other people at any time.
Wouldn't it be easier and more effective to give everyone a break? When you meet other people, give other people a break, and take a break with yourself. Think of others as good too:
When you meet people for the first time, start by thinking that most of the people you meet are good people and worthy of your friendship. You can choose to believe that almost everyone you meet really loves you, and that you love many other people.
Confident people:
“Everyone you meet knows something you don't know. ...”
People who are self-confident in society and who do not have many friends often have this attitude. If this has not been the case with you, you may want to consider changing it. How can you change this?
When you meet a new person:
Whenever you meet someone new, actively look for things that you would like from that person. Look at their fascinating and unique qualities. Establish your need to judge and evaluate others, and simply meet them as ordinary people who are struggling and developing, and living their way, just like you. Find things you like about each person, and feel like you really like them. You will find that when your attitude changes, the world will become a much better place, because you have become more friendly.
“Encourage everyone you meet with a smile or a compliment. ... That's all life, you know? ”
