"Now, Execute Your Strategy."
"Most individuals have a business strategy, but the problem is they don't work their plan," I was informed early in my career. The same might be said for New Year's resolutions. How many promises have you made to yourself, and how many of them will you keep?
One important issue is that too many goals are sometimes set. Another difficulty may be that the one aim is so dramatic that achieving it would take up all of your time. It might be so large that it becomes overpowering. At this point, you will not only not work on this concept, but you will also be unable to achieve your other, easier goals due to your feeling of overload.
For example, if you wanted to become well-known on a national scale this year, you would need to make significant public relations efforts. It would mean speaking anywhere feasible, displaying your knowledge, contacting as many media outlets as possible, and continuing to be seen and heard in every way known to humanity.
At the same time, as the CEO of your firm, you must deal with all of the other aspects of your organization. How do you solve this conundrum?
In my perspective, a huge year-long endeavor was analogous to a one-a-day vitamin. My recommendation is to split down public relations tactics into manageable chores. First, make a list of everything you can think of that has to be done and accomplished for you to feel completely successful. Then, prioritize the stages based on which will take the most time to accomplish.
Begin with the most time-consuming and challenging activities first. There are two reasons for this. First, you have the most enthusiasm at the start of the year, as in, "I'm going to do it this time!" As a result, tackling the challenging job will be easy today. Second, if you start a large project near the end of the year, you may not finish it on time and will feel let down.
Now that you know which work to start, finish at least one stage of it each day, depending on how much time you have available to commit to the project. This is where I compare the procedure to taking a one-a-day vitamin.
One job a day committed to your top objective will provide you with the newfound energy to keep going! You'll sense a rush of adrenaline and excitement coming your way. As you accomplish a job, your project will get easier and more enjoyable.
As you become accustomed to the daily routine of working on your big project, it will be easier to squeeze in a couple of the smaller tasks too. Within several months, you begin to feel as if you are making strides in getting known and the other areas of your business are growing too. As all areas of your business build together, the new business will come your way with far less effort.
When you work strategically, the worry diminishes and the smiles return to your face. At the same time, be certain to help those who need your area of expertise or who want to follow in your footsteps. Your new demeanor will attract new clients as you are happy, confident, and successful. You will also build repeat business, referrals, and testimonials – all essential ingredients for success.
Every few months you will be able to see and measure your progress. Mid-year, you should be feeling fairly popular. By the end of the year, you will have succeeded and be known nationwide!
