Your focus in life depends on what you want to achieve. Yes, we all have plans and aspirations, but what we do to make those plans and aspirations happen is the result of the focus we give such tasks.
Most of the time we lose focus because we don't remember why we started what we intend to do. It is simply because there is no will to achieve what you set out to achieve
And what causes this reluctance?
Just a lack of focus. Focusing on a task can be tiring because you will definitely have other things to attend to. And it can cause the most important task or project to be neglected.
So how do you do this one thing?
Focus. Accomplishing what you set out to accomplish, commissioning or a challenging task?
As I mentioned before, you need to know why, If there is no reason why you started something, you may have reasons not to finish it.
So first you need to define your why? Is it for family, yourself or to create a legacy? These are the things that would guide your decision making when you get to work or slow down.
But think about it
Anything worth starting is worth finishing. Focusing can be difficult - why? This is because you are glued to the project at hand. After all, it requires your full concentration and attention.
So how do you focus if you want to stay focused?
Go for a walk and change your perspective Not on a project or job, but on your current location. To maintain concentration, you may need to change your location
To see or do some other things and return to the project or task. To clear your mind and have a fresher perspective on accomplishing the task at hand.
Are you passionate about the task at hand?
Passion drives every fiber of our being, so being excited about the task will help keep the momentum going and drive you to achieve your best about the project after you may have solved the reason.
While you're at it, there are bound to be some dissenting voices. Something like why are you doing this? When will you finish this project of yours?
This is where your circle comes in, and because you have to suppress the dissenting voices that negate or doubt your aspirations.
You need a circle that motivates you to succeed no matter how big the task. Small distractions come in the form of doom-rolling and *phubbing.
How?
We all have those phone times where we stay glued to our phones and do nothing but check notifications and chat all day.
Isn't that what we do?
And while we offend the people around us in the process, even when we sit together, our togetherness is far apart.
As much as it can be a very difficult task, putting your phone out of the way does wonders to focus your mind as there are a lot of distractions when surfing the internet as it keeps your mind from wandering.
Who knows if someone you're communicating with has some answers to the questions you need answered about that project or task.
On the other hand, if you have to use your phone, read up on the project or task to gain more knowledge about solving the problem at hand that is holding you back or slowing you down in real time.
And finally, how is your life? There are two things you need to focus on while focusing externally on this task.
Your health, safety and security is meant to be your livelihood. If your health is in flux, there is nothing more you can focus on than how you want to recover.
And if your livelihood is at stake, your likelihood of completing the task may be something you struggle with as you need cash flow.
If you can't meet your basic or always needed needs, you may want to neglect this project and throw away the reason you started it in the first place.
Safety and health are key in the focus game as they increase productivity and provide balance. *Phubbing (combination of phone and silence)
