This is for everyone who is still holding on to a job that is not worth it. Maybe it was okay for a moment, time and place in your life. But not anymore. When was the last time you jumped on the couch and wondered what the day would bring?
- "But I like the people I work with."
- "It's very easy."
- "Money is decent, if you consider ..."
I have heard all the excuses. Hell, I did. You know that work is sucking your soul, and it's time to go. All that remains is to decide how.
Above all, you want it to be your decision. Do not let boredom and indifference lead to an attitude that can lead to dismissal or escape. Who wants to work hard no matter how talented they are?
The first reason why people stay in bad jobs is the fear of the unknown. Are you clinging to something that is out of place just because you know it? What if the unknown was not terrifying? What if they were full of excitement and excitement? Indeed, there is a time for change when you leave what you can do in your sleep and head to a new place. I can assure you that the slide down for a long stay is much larger than the fall of a small reading curve. How can you make a strange place comfortable?
1. Make Known
Learn about it. Do research. Talk to people. Conduct informational discussions. Volunteer, be trained. Find ways to teach yourself. Go to school. Hire a coach. Shine a light on things that are not scary and is not a big deal. If you are drawn to it you may be talented.
2. Do it
There are many successful people in the world who just decide they know what they are doing. I will never forget my friend Susan, a beautiful and confident woman who received her gift of public speaking from Toastmaster and became a highly paid mentor simply because she decided she deserved to listen. I had just graduated from high school and was trying to find the courage to go to pitch companies. He read a book or two, made a presentation, and suddenly crossed the country earning a lot of money. There is a lot to be said about chutzpah.
3. Try it on a small scale
Temporary or experimental projects work best especially if you are thinking of going out on your own. Long hours when you don’t give up your day job but if you pursue your love you can often find strength. Manage a friend's party for cost of goods. Print other business cards on your computer. Do some pro bono work for a community group to get evidence. Soon you will feel ready to follow it.
4. Jump In
This is my favorite. I find great strength in jumping off cliffs. Instead of shouting "NO", try saying "Wheee!" or "Geronimo." I have traveled the world three times unemployed and homeless. I always have a soft, effective lower back so I can keep jumping. Sometimes it takes a change of location to get yourself out of the situation. Try something out there and see if you can fly.
5. Be prepared
So maybe you are not a therapist. You can plan for emergencies, keep that nest egg. Get the answer to all that - if. But be careful not to overdo it. How likely is it that you will encounter such events? There comes a time when it is time to take action.
Until one commits oneself, there is doubt, a chance to back off, not always working. it is moving. All kinds of things happen to help the one who would not otherwise happen.
Whatever you do or dream of, start it. Courage has intelligence, power and magic in it. Start now ".
Remember, if you do what you already know how to do your world can be very old. Growing up is an important part of life. It is time to move on. You can feel it when the change is due. When that time comes the universe makes it easier for you. Graduate school fees appear, childcare arrangements are in place, an article about a new company catches your eye. Pay attention to the signs. Then trust your judgment. If something tells you that this new opportunity is right, it probably is.
