ABSTRACT Background
Significant interest in physical literacy (PL) has been shown internationally in the fields of education, health, and sport. Teachers are essential in helping kids develop their PL skills. Although PL is mentioned in a number of physical education curriculum texts, there is little information on how teachers interpret and comprehend the idea. The purpose of this study was to investigate how Australian health and physical education instructors, both generalists and specialists, understood and perceived PL.
Techniques
The first phase of the study had 174 Australian teachers participating in an online survey using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. The survey included a combination of multiple-choice, yes/no, Likert, and open-ended response options. It was designed based on pertinent research to gather information about teachers' awareness, understanding, and perceptions of professional language learning.
