To err is human but to perfect is divine, human beings are not exempted from making a mistake as they misjudged or forgot what to do or willing to do or even have done it. A mistake is an unintentional error being made by a person that can't be reversed, but learned from and moved forward.
Albert Einstein, a great scientist and physicist of all time, once said whosoever has not made a mistake has never tried anything new. In the process of doing something new, you are likely to make mistakes. This shows that making a mistake is an inevitable occurrence in human life.
But what do you do after making a mistake that might have drawn shame, anxiety and hinder you from moving forward from the time you did it, you learn from it and try to avoid repeating it next time in your actions and activities. To learn from mistakes is to gain knowledge from bad experiences and improve, and this brings us step by step ways to do so.
Accept a Mistake You Did
Accepting that you have made a mistake is the first step you need to take to learn from the mess you made. Do not blame someone for the blunders you commit, blame yourself initially, doing so will give you the mindset to bring yourself together and find a solution to whatever mistake you made.
Accepting your mistake is to show remorse on what you have done wrongly either to someone publicly, at home and in place of work. Do not shy away from apologizing and that apologizing experience will be recorded in your IQ, from there you will not repeat such mistakes at all cost.
Question Yourself How it Happens
When you question yourself on how the mistake you did came about, then you are likely to come up with an answer that will lay a way in finding the best solution. If for instance you wrongly sent an email, then it might be you are either stressed or you didn't look very well before sending, so questioning yourself is a way for you not to repeat it again.
Throw questions at yourself like how did it happen, why didn't I do it right, what went wrong, how will I correct it next time. Doing so will put you through on learning the mistakes you made and correcting it next time you try to do something.
Analyze and Make a Plan
Analyzing a mistake will be like avoiding repeating the mistake in the near future by thinking about how it happened and getting an answer on how to prevent it next time because you are definitely gonna learn from the analysis you made. For instance, if you forgot to send a text message to a friend, you will realize that you didn't add it to your daily schedule list.
Analyzing your mistake will make you prepare and plan on how to go about it and not make the same mistake next time.
Work Harder
When you work hard, you are likely to achieve what you pursue. So working hard on not to repeat a mistake is a sign that you learn from it and try to avoid it to the best of your ability.
Working hard on mistakes can be seen as Dr Juliana Breins of University of California, Berkeley conducted a study where she found out that encouraging students that didn't work hard after being kind to them made them improve. She said students who failed a test were taught to work harder using the phrases "try not to be too hard on yourself, it's common for students to have difficulty for tests like this" reminding them also of self-esteem saying "you must be intelligent if you got into Berkeley". The study showed that such students did well on the next test.
Know Why You Shouldn't Make a Mistake
Knowing why you should not make a mistake is a step forward to tackle mistakes you made in the past, learn from it and avoid repeating it in the future.
For instance, know that when you don't attend a lecture on time, you have to reduce your schedules and annul it to the prompt next time. Avoid constructive criticism from your managers and heads in office by keeping to the standard of the job.
