How to have a successful website?

I have often been questioned about how a successful website can be created?

I always answer there should be proper planning before starting to build a website, otherwise "Lack of proper planning beforehand" will destroy the new website design like a bullet train.

It is essential to plan out your website before starting to build. An old axiom in programming states: " The sooner you start your coding, the longer it takes to finish."

If we borrow a technique from the film industry, I recommend creating a storyboard, which is like a flow chart of your new website design. You do not have to be a trained/experienced artist to draw out your idea, but first, it is essential to create it on paper.

On every piece of paper, there should be room for an image at the top, plus a justified space underneath for writing down necessary information in such a concise way that it reflects most of the information about the website on the first eye. As you might think, the first page to start with is your home(or welcome) page, which will normally have the most information as it will contain the page the people visit before they enter your site. As people go through your site, they will encounter more information ((in tiers) as they go down.

Normally, the home page links 5 to 15 pages below that, referred to as Tier2. Each of those pages links to another 5 to 15 pages, which you could call Tier 3.

If you use all of these pages, you will wrap up with an extensive website design of at least 225 Pages (including the home page).

It's during this process that all sorts of problems will crop up. But it's much easier to solve them on paper than in the middle of coding rather than when you are finished. If you don't, you might run into a major problem along the way that would require "back to the drawing board" complete site re-design.

Working things out on paper will give you a much better idea of how things will work and how to fix problems, and if you have knowledgeable friends, get a second opinion. Once you have completed the on-paper process and your web designer is satisfied with the results, you are ready to translate it into code.

Characteristics of a website.

A website's best characteristics are easy navigation, ease of use, great user experience, and load speedily. Compatible with various browsers and mobiles. Contents are original, well-formatted content that is easy to scan, relevant, and updated regularly; current functionality working properly, and keep your target audience in mind. The website colors, fonts, button styles, heading sizes, image styles, image sizes, and backgrounds are among the pieces to keep consistent. While all of these elements are part of what makes a website visually appealing, they are all relative,

Good websites are well organized and follow a structure. They are not cluttered; they are clean and professional. The organization makes a website accessible and user-friendly. By creating a thoughtful organizational structure in your website, site visitors will better navigate and find the content required in your site.
