Trees and plants are as important to humans as air and water. But human settlements are settled only by cutting them.
Man is paying a heavy price for it. He has to live with pollution. Countless diseases are being embraced. But now man has realized his mistake. By planting new trees, he is now paying off the debt of nature.
Along with this, efforts are also being made to reduce the pollution of cities. Be it Delhi, London or Paris, emphasis is being laid on increasing greenery in all the cities of the world.
But not all trees or plants eliminate pollution at the same level. For this, it is important to first know where the level of pollution is and then trees should be planted there accordingly. At the same time, it is also important to understand that trees improve air quality, not completely clean the air. To make the air clean, it is necessary that carbon emissions are minimized.
Plants act as lungs for the atmosphere. They release oxygen. And, by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, make the air pure. The leaves of plants also absorb dangerous elements like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide and make the air clean. Not only this, many types of polluted elements stick on the velvety twigs and leaves of plants and get washed away when water falls.
There is more pollution on the roads as compared to residential areas. Therefore, trees with more dense and broad leaves should be planted here. The wider and denser the leaves, the more pollution they will be able to absorb.
A research suggests that plants with small fibrous leaves also play an important role in controlling PM. For example, trees like cedar and cypress act as good air purifiers. Research has found that the leaves of these trees have the highest ability to absorb the toxic elements of PM 2.5.
It is advisable to plant similar trees in polluted cities like Beijing. One of the specialties of cedar is that it is an evergreen tree. That's why it keeps on working to clean the air all the time.
At the same time, experts also say that cedar is not a good option for snowy places. Because these trees are very dense. Therefore, the sunlight does not allow to reach the ground directly. It takes time for the snow to melt. Also, salt is used in many areas to melt snow, which is not suitable for cedar.
According to experts, there are also many disadvantages of deciduous trees. Poplar and black gum trees are planted in large numbers in the northern hemisphere. These trees release large amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
It is better that the area where the trees and plants grow naturally should be allowed to remain the same. While many experts say that there is no harm in planting trees in other areas as per the need.
But whatever plants are planted, they should be planted in a planned manner.
Along with this, the researchers also say that such trees and plants should be planted on the roadside which are more in age and need less care. Apart from this, many plants of the same breed should not be planted at the same place.
It is a challenging task to assess which tree or plant will be better in which area. Scientists are developing such tools by which this challenge can be conquered.
America's Forest Service has developed a software named I-Tree, which makes it very easy to select plants according to the place.
Nevertheless, oak trees, pine trees, and evergreen trees are considered very important in terms of pollution control.
Tree plantation is an important part in the planning of cities. But for this it is necessary that trees should be planted only after understanding the environment and environment of that place. Trees planted without thinking can cause more trouble than relief.
