How to get your coding journey started?

Not a computer science graduate? No, IT Background? Scared of coding? Clueless about how to start? Worry not. I’ve got you covered. Being an Electronics Engineer, I also have faced the same issues as anybody else would have. But the best part is, no need to be scared of coding, to begin with.

When I was a beginner, I’ve always wondered how to get started with coding. It literally feels confusing when you go and google it. So, here are the 4 steps that can help you get covered in the basics of coding. Just dive in, and you will find it very much useful.

Step 1:

Select your language!

As a newcomer to coding, The first step in enabling yourself to learn coding involves making sure you’ve got a rock-solid foundation from which to grow - that means picking the right language in the first place. Step 2:

Start Learning!

Once you are done with choosing your language, start learning it. There are thousands of free resources available online. However, In my case, I found geeks for geeks a great one to start with! Just google geeks for geeks according to your language choice, and you are ready to go!

Step 3:

Note things down!

After you’ve started learning, start making notes of it. This is how I learned. Because it is going to help you throughout. Suppose if you forget any concept in between, you cannot go back all over again searching for it, as it would take too much time. Though it depends on one’s own choice. But if you make a habit of preparing notes of what you’ve learned, it surely will help you in the long go. Taking down notes will also help you revise what you learned.

Step 4:

Solve Questions/Start Practicing!

Now you have enough theoretical knowledge of coding. It’s time to start applying it. Again, there are a lot of platforms for you to practice it. Here is the one which I would suggest for a beginner:

The most important thing to remember is that your coding knowledge is mostly influenced by practicing; the more you practice, the more efficient you become. Practicing is the key to master things! Hackerrank is the platform where beginners can start solving problems according to the difficulty level.

However, you can do many amazing things with codings, such as building an app, creating games, building your own profile page, developing web pages, making websites, and a lot more; it’s really very exciting if you get going.
