The Cancun International Airport serves a wide range of airlines. While some foreign flights (such as charters) use Terminal 2, most use Terminal 3. To prepare yourself, go through our walk-through of the Cancun airport. The first thing you need to do is choose a way to How to Get to Isla Mujeres? from whence you may take a ferry to the island.
Cancun Airport Transfer
There are three routes from the Cancun airport to the Puerto Juarez ferry docks, which will transport you to the island. The shared airport van, bus, or privately reserved vehicle/van from a third party. There are numerous businesses holding signs in the arrivals/pick-up area as soon as you depart the airport terminal.
Look for a sign with your name on it if you have reserved private transportation in advance; if not, you will need to buy a shuttle or bus ticket. To buy your ticket to downtown Cancun (about $5 USD per person), look for the stand with a large "ADO" sign in red. The bus departs every 30 minutes.
If you're feeling very daring, you can take the "Ruta 13" bus, which will drop you off at Puerto Juárez close to the ferry pier, or you can take a taxi from the downtown bus station to the ferry, which will cost about $5 USD total. For a single or two people, this is the most cost-effective method.
While waiting is inevitable, shared airport transportation is still reasonably priced. You will probably be the final person dropped off, unless everyone else in the van is also traveling to Isla Mujeres, as the van won't leave until it is fully loaded. While they are a possibility, private airport taxis are rather pricey they cost more than $70 USD one way.
Reserved a private vehicle in advance
This is the most widely used transportation for social groups including families and friends for Most Popular Activities in Isla Mujeres. There is no waiting and the price is for each vehicle, not each person. Tickets for one way or return trips can be bought online.

The Isla Mujeres Ferry
A short distance from Cancun's downtown is Puerto Juarez, which is home to the Gran Puerto Cancun (Ultramar) ferry dock. From 5:00 am until 9:30 pm, and then every hour after that, the boats depart every half an hour. It takes roughly fifteen minutes to cross.
Porters are prepared to assist you with your luggage and put it onto the ships when you arrive. 5:30 AM is the first sailing from Isla Mujeres to Cancun. Ferries operate every hour until 12:00 AM (10:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 12:00 AM) and then every 30 minutes till 9:30 PM. To accommodate the extra visitors, they will add more boats during peak times, which is Easter weekend.
Getting a ride to Isla
It is not advised to drive a rental car to Isla because there is very little parking on the island; walking and/or renting a golf cart are far more enjoyable options. However, if you have to, Punta Sam, which is ten minutes north of Puerto Juárez, offers automobile ferries.
If you intend to drive your own car to Isla Mujeres, this is your only choice. There is just one driver during the fair, and each passenger pays extra. Before boarding, purchase your tickets. It's advisable to come at least an hour before departure because the queues can be long at times.
