How To Get The Best Use Out Of Your Home Treadmill

The # 1 fear people have when they have invest in a home press (any piece of exercise equipment) that they will not use. You know the fact. It is delivered, you set it up and enjoy it for a few days… then stay… and wait. Within a few months down the road, you realize how dusty it is and how much space it takes. And remember how much weight you were willing to lose by using it faithfully every day. But now, unfortunately, it has doubled like a clothing rack. Don't get afraid. This article will surely help you to make sure that this does NOT happen.

The treadmill provides excellent cardiovascular exercise and is still the first exercise machine for those who want to lose weight. So it is an investment in your life that will pay off huge profits ... if you are ready to make a big profit out of it! Here are 5 easy ways to get the most out of your home treadmill:

# 1) Do your research first Make sure you look at what each treadmill offers you and compare it to your different needs. For example, if you live in a condo and / or like clean and tidy items, a folding treadmill may be just right for you. If you are looking for a treadmill rolling, do you prefer a treadmill roll (mostly like folding treadmills) or do you want a rolling treadmill with wheels that are easy to move? If you like to drink water while exercising, make sure there is a water bottle holder fitted to the treadmill console (it may surprise you how many treadmills do not have this feature.) Are you easily bored and need a challenge? What about getting a treadmill with multi-function programs or one that is compatible with iFit? These items may seem small and may be less expensive; but if it means you will really enjoy your workout it will be worth it!

# 2) Put the treadmill in a 'fun' place. By ‘happy’ I mean well-lit, open and moving. Do not place to face an empty wall when running on a treamill. I have tried this and the workout does not last long! If you are easily bored, put it on the TV or in the window where you can have a spectacular view while working. Rooms and spaces have ‘specific emotions’ and that will affect the success of your operation. Your treadmill should be placed in an area that makes you feel energized, happy and mentally refreshed.

# 3) Prepare your arsenal before the treadmill arrives. Do you like listening to fast music when you exercise? Do you like watching your favorite movies? What about reading magazines? What motivates you to work and feel better? Prepare these items even before your treadmill arrives and you will be a third of the way there. Have many games or CDs of your interest. Find your favorite movies or programs. Collect magazines of your choice. By having a 'workout' stash next to your treadmill, you will be motivated to exercise AND you will not be running looking for something you can do if you want to start exercising. Again, this may seem very simple, but it works. Why do you think gyms have magazines, televisions and CD players?

# 4) Make an exercise plan. Before you start working out, try making a plan, “the road to your strong body” to talk. By note it down how much time you will do and what type of exercise in week 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. Remember that every time you exercise, you are planting the seeds of the phsique you want. With a plan, you can see how many seeds you have planted (even how long it will take you to start reaping the results!) Have fun with it and you will be motivated to achieve your health goals (and get the most out of your treadmill!)

# 5) Keep track of your progress Okay this is related to # 4 but it is ongoing. By tracking your daily progress, you gain a greater sense of accomplishment in achieving more thermal effects. I suggest you have 'small goals' such as "I'll go for at least 10 minutes." or "I will do 20-40 second intervals." These are easy to do and you will probably go beyond that - it will encourage you even more and increase your sense of accomplishment. And of course, you get the most out of your treadmill!
