5 Tips For Keeping Your Hair Looking Fresh All Summer Long: Whether it’s salty ocean air, sun exposure, chlorine from swimming pools or just plain old sweat from running around outdoors, "summer" time is hard on hair.
Use Sunscreen Daily
If you’re trying to look like a glowing goddess on a daily basis, it’s important that you start doing some regular skin care. Use a sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher daily. Not only will you prevent yourself from getting sun damage, but you’ll also keep your skin looking radiant and bright. Try using a tinted sunscreen if your skin is oily. This will prevent breakouts and allow your natural glow to shine through. Also, be sure to moisturize often during summer months. Sunscreen dries out your skin, so make sure you have something hydrating available at all times. It might seem counterintuitive, but trust us – you don’t want dry skin!
Stay Hydrated
Drinking water is critical for healthy, glowing skin. Dehydration can cause your skin to dry out and crack—not exactly what you want on a hot summer day. Drink plenty of water, and when you do hydrate with other liquids, go for unsweetened green tea or black coffee. And stay away from sodas and alcohol; not only will those beverages be dehydrating (alcohol is a diuretic), but they’ll also cause you to retain more water if you consume them in excess. You don’t want puffy skin!
Eat Clean
In order to have glowing skin all year round, it’s best to follow a clean diet. That means eliminating processed foods and junk that’s high in sodium, sugar and saturated fat. For example, that means steering clear of cheese puffs, soda and foods containing artificial ingredients. Instead, fill your plate with veggies, lean meats, healthy fats like avocado or chia seeds and fresh fruits. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water!
Don’t Skip Breakfast
Skipping breakfast may seem like a good way to lose weight and keep your skin glowing, but it’s not. Studies show that people who skip breakfast are more likely to be overweight and have skin problems than those who eat their morning meal. Eating breakfast is a key part of glowing skin and weight loss because skipping it may lead you toward less-than-healthy snacks later on. To get glowing skin in summer, make sure you eat a healthy breakfast every day.
Facial Exfoliation for Glowing Skin
When your skin care regimen begins with facial exfoliation, it sets your face up for a much smoother, healthier glow. At least once a week, you’ll want to gently scrub away dead skin cells and other buildup. One trick is to soak a few washcloths or towels in hot water and then squeeze them out well. Lay one on your face while you relax in a steamy shower or bath. The heat will open pores and soften skin, making it easier to remove dead cells without irritating sensitive areas like around your eyes.
Treat Yourself with Self-Care Rituals
The sun does a lot of damage to our skin and if you want to maintain your smooth, glowing skin for summer it’s important that you treat yourself with care. Exfoliate regularly with a homemade sugar scrub and slather on natural sunscreen. When you wake up, leave time for relaxing self-care rituals like meditation or yoga before work. Your glowing summer skin will thank you.
