How to Gain Weight

Weight gaining can be as stressful as weight losing. It results in lack of confidence and tension in many people suffering from underweight problem. Although being lean can often be healthy and trendy, being underweight can be a concern in case of poor nutrition or if you are pregnant or have other health issues. So, if you're underweight, see your doctor or dietitian for an evaluation and better understanding of your condition. Here are some healthy tips to gain weight which can pay off if you follow carefully:

Eat more often. When you're underweight, you may feel full faster. Eat four to five smaller meals during the day such as breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, midnight snacks, rather than simply relying on two or three large meals in a whole day.

Eat foods rich with nutrients. Choose whole-grain breads, pastas and cereals; fruits and vegetables; dairy products; lean protein sources; and nuts and seed in your daily meal routine.

Try healthy smoothies and shakes. Lesser the consumption of cold drinks, diet soda, coffee and other drinks with few calories and little nutritional value. Instead, drink smoothies or healthy shakes made with milk and fresh or frozen fruit, and sprinkle in some ground flaxseed. In some cases, a liquid meal replacement may be recommended.

Pay attention to your drinking habits. Some people find that drinking fluids before meals blunts their appetite. In that case, it may be better to sip higher calorie beverages along with a meal or snack. For others, drinking 30 minutes after a meal, not with it, may work.

Snacking can also be healthy.  Add snacks to your meal such as nuts, peanut butter, cheese, dried fruits and avocados. Have a bedtime snack, such as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or a wrap sandwich with avocado, sliced vegetables, and lean meat or cheese.

Addition of Fruits. Fruits are a gift of nature and have the ability to cure many diseases. Though being underweight is not directly considered as a disease, but people suffering from it count is as one. Fruits such as banana, mango, fig, grapes, avocado, can be most useful in gaining weight.

Add more toppings. Add extra toppings to your dishes for more calories — such as cheese in casseroles and scrambled eggs, and fat-free dried milk in soups and stews.

Have an occasional treat. Even when you're underweight, be mindful of excess sugar and fat. An occasional slice of pie with ice cream is OK. But most treats should be healthy and provide nutrients in addition to calories. Bran muffins, yogurt and granola bars are good choices.

Exercise daily . Exercise can help you gain weight by building up your muscles. Exercise may also stimulate your appetite. There is a major difference between weight gaining and weight losing excercies. You must pay attention to exercising habits. A research shown that evening time is best for weight gaining exercises as compared to weight losing ones.

Stay determined. Being consistent and determined till the last is one of those tips which would help you to achieve your desired goal. Its ok to get demotivated and discouraged sometimes but giving up should never be an option. You are a Human Being with the strongest will power, you are capable of doing anything. So, giving up really does not suit you, right?

Best of Luck ;)
